Sry about quality the pic is scanned. This was me on my 11th B-Day I had MBL plaits and WL straitened hair (naturally layered). I relaxed at 14 after a hairdresser's butchering (age 13) left me with between shoulder and APL cornrows. I turned 19 earlier this month and I have been trasitioning for 13 months and natural WL hair (stretched) is my goal.

I am sorry Sweetie, I did not have long hair when I was a child. It was between SL and APL at the most. I wish I had your length when I was younger :) And you were very pretty as well... Keep it growing Honey ;)

ETA: I had my first relaxer when I was 19, so NO my not-so-long-hair was not due to bad relaxers :)

Thank you, I would sure love to have your length more sooner than later:look:.

My relaxed hair was always pretty healthy, the 5 set backs in 4 years is why I haven't achieve the length I would like. I also realized through my transition that I'm a slow grower only getting 4.5 at some parts throughout my hair at my 1yr mark.

ETA- Current length: Right side= grazing BSL Left side= 1 shorter than right at between APL and BSL =/ the uneveness was worse this is after a 1.5 trim to the right side in an attempt to even things up.

Honestly I think I have the same growth rate as you. I just make sure I retain my length mainly with low manipulation. I am sure that's what your Mama was doing to retain your length because I am not sure growth rate changes over time. And YES you did have great hair and incredible length when you were young.:yep: Patience it is all you need, and you'll get them back in no time

I rather just forget my hair during childhood :nono: not a good look. My mother did not know how to do hair at all...it was neck length or a little below until I came to LHCF

I don't have any childhood pictures. They were destroyed in a fire.:ohwell: I do remember having MBL hair. I think it was because I was very short. My hair was relaxed from root to tip each time my mom did a touch up and amazingly it did not look damaged at all. I would never do this to my hair now, but my childhood hair was so strong and long. :yep: The longest my hair has been since is SL. I am working on a personal growth journey. I'm going to go back to the tried and true stuff my mom used on me way back then.

I'm so sorry to hear that, thank goodness for you:yep:.

Wow with resilient hair like that you'll be swangin' back at MBL in no time.

I'm getting a little better at this retaining thing.

LOL I only have one pic from elementary school where you can see my hair (mom hasn't scanned the rest LOL).

That's my brother on the left. This was for my mom's school fashion show (she's a designer). My hair was such a pain, made me waste Saturdays getting it done instead of being outside ;__;

My hair was at it's best in high school (I even had " fake dreads" for a month in my sophomore year. I was the only one who had them since it was a mostly white school & everyone wanted them hahaha!! anyways...) . This is my picture during senior year:

.... I chopped it off when I left for college because I didn't want to fuss with it :lachen:

Thank you!! (:

There was a small point in my childhood where it was short:
In 5th grade my dad had us for the summer & bless his heart, he tried to be helpful & dry my hair...

... with a blow dryer... on high... with a comb.

Needless to say, I started middle school with SL hair & I STILL had fried parts of my hair. :ohwell: I was half sad, half relieved lol.

Wow I never had long hair even in childhood. When I show my mom my comparison shots and talk to her about this board, she keeps telling me how long it was as a child. No it was not. But it was in better condition and once I had a little bouncey bob that came to the bottom of my neck. For me that was long. During my teen years it was always always broken off up the neck. Then when I was 19 I had it cut down and tapered professionally.

No, MAMATO, you are not the only one who didn't have long hair as a child.

Trust me, NO ONE wants to see pics of my childhood hair, and I certainly don't want it back. :nono: It was basically neck length until I became an adult, when my hair finally reached SL, but not much longer than that....until now.

:yay:Yay, I am not alone. And no, I dont have a picture of my childhood hair, but the following is quite similar:antlers:

This is about right for me. Although I permed sooner my hair was still not much longer then sl. Maybe an inch more. I have always had fairly short hair, my twin is the one who always had long, thick hair.

Naw, I don't want to go back..... This was a blue majic nightmare. I remember that pressing comb being soooo hot and when that hair grease met the comb, the sizzle was all I heard......:nono:
