A few weeks ago I got invited to a party. The only person I knew was the one who invited me. As the other women start arriving I notice a desturbing pattern, every single women in the room had ear length hair or shorter
and it was fried and dried. There was one that had hair almost shoulder length but her hair was so ate up and thin.

Everything in me wanted to hold a healthy hair session for these ladies:perplexed
But I just kept my mouth shut.

I really wanted to help them but I know if I said something it may have been taken the wrong way. But it was hard to be in that room with all that damaged hair, I hope they didn't catch me staring:grin::perplexed

Before LHCF I never would have noticed their hair
I am ruined LOL

LOL I love this! Don't worry, you're not alone. I sometimes wish I didn't know
the little bit that I do. You have me wondering how many people stared at my dry
relaxed hair and flaky scalp before I learned that water is my friend and relaxers
are not, lol.

Don't worry, you are not alone. Even when my friend was in ICU I still combed her hair and moisturized her hair. I have become a hair snob. I hate it. I look at many women's hair and make mental prescriptions of what she could do to reverse her present hair condition.

lol Trust me, you're not the only one. The other day, I happened to flip the channel to BET and while watching 106 & Park, I noticed one of the girls in the audience with this chewed up, thinned out, EL hair. I couldn't stop shaking my head! Everywhere I go, I look at someone's hair and I'm just continuously floored by the amount of girls walking around in Miami with destroyed ends and STILL thinking they look fabulous!

The comment I aways got was, "Why is your hair so dry?" :ohwell: We didn't know better, but hey once we knew better we did better!

That's really sweet, hospital hair ain't nuffin nice.
What did she say to you when she got out of ICU? I pray she recovered:yep:

OMG that's what I am a hair snob, oh wow I didn't realize, all my sista friends we talk about haircare all the time. I have been living in a protective bubble I don't know what it is like to be around unhealthy hair anymore:lol:
I have forgotten I am a snob:ohwell::grin:

That's the thing one of the sistas just knew she looked good and I could see her scalp:ohwell:

Oh I am a total hair snob, but I don't try to give women tips. They can hear what they wanna hear, do what they wanna do, and I'll whip my hair back and forth and they'll wonder why their hair has "grown" an inch and a half in two years.

I'm a hair snob as well...so are my friends. My friend gave a woman in the mall her sister's business card (she is a hairstylist) because her hair was so crazy looking.

That's why I take time to stop and answer questions of anyone who asks about my hair. If they start to get that "glazed over" look in their eyes, I just smile and tell them good luck and fluff my hair as I walk away lol

I have pretty, healthy long hair, but I would never be a snob about it. I try and help the healthy-long-hair challenged chicken heads.:yep:

I know exactly how you felt. I work in the retail industry and I see women everyday that make me cringe. Some people I do try to spark conversation with and help and others I don't.

Me either but I learnt to save my breath. Even women who run me down for advice and products, after I take time to work out a regimen complete with products, I see them a few weeks later and they back in braids or weave, talking bout they don't like the length of their hair or it's too much work or some other excuse. Any questions I get now I just say, keep it moist. Moisture is key and that is IT.

Me too!! I am afraid I am going to get cursed out because I am staring at someone's hair too much on the bus, I swear I just want to give them some coconut oil; and I just started my journey. Imagine how much worse I will be when I actually have alot of hair. Child you aint gonna be able to TALK to me. I will be a total SNOB.

welcome on board, girl. That's me, like a lady said even when I'm watching news, I do notice hair. This journey has just "changed" my whole vision of the world. If I listen to myself, I will walk aroung with tons of coconut oil and pass it around .

And it could even be worse. DH is always starring at ladies' hair and pity them. And then he says 'hun, you need to help this one, let her know what to to, this one needs an intervention". his favourite word on hair care is braid-out so every style is called a braid-out :lachen:. I can't blame him, it's all lhcf fault!!!:lachen:

I always notice hair - that's a life long thing so not lhcf related but I'm not a snob at all. I eat healthy - but I don't get bothered when I walk past the food court in the mall either.

Unintentional hair snob checking in :hiya:

I'm not even a girly girl. In the past, I would never notice anyone's hair.
NEVER
Now I notice everyone's and most of the time...it ain't pretty.
I try to help those who are interested and then I let it go.

girl, they gone find you face down in the hair care aisle with footprints on your back. be careful out there :lachen::lachen::lachen:

When it comes to hair I only help those who WANT the help and start to ask/seek information.

As for the other ones; I can't help you if you don't want to help yourself. Thats their problem. *Kanye Shrug*

I know exactly what ya mean OP. It's nothing for me to walk around at work and see ladies with alittle smidget of hair.....wearing it down with their ends rubbing on their clothes and wondering why their hair won't get past that certain point :nono:
It urks me...but I keep my lips sealed until someone comes to me and asks for advice.

I'm a hair snob. I don't give advice unless someone asks for it, because I don't like to waste my time. The funny thing is that sometimes people try and give me tips. I just look at their hair and then I'm like "I'm good".

I was joking with a sister at my church and I said "I wanna do a class on hair care" and she got all excited and said she will be waiting for it. I think I'm gonna try and put something together by this spring because them sistahs at my church need some serious help!

I've been on the other end of this a few months ago - others want to give me their business card or tell me that they want to do my hair and I look at their hair and I'm like no honey, I don't think so. Before people ever volunteer or suggest that somebody's hair ain't lookin tough they should make sure theirs looks good. My hair wasn't styled all fierce but it's healthier and thicker than theirs.

Wow, I mean....Im sorry and no offense to anyone but that's like....mean! Why should anyone care how someone else takes care of their hair? The only ppl I know that compare themselves (especially their hair) to others are ones with low self-esteem or something. Hey that is my opinion but dang that's mean.

that was sweet of you. my grandmother just passed a month ago and she had cancer, but i made sure to bring a comb and elastic to do her hair and braid it back just the way she liked it when she was in the hospital.

we're still women, and little things like that help our mood when we arent feeling our best.

^^ keep in mind: this is a HAIR forum. it's like going to a body fitness forum and folks complain about seeing folks abuse their body. :yep:

i've always noticed ppl's hair, but especially since i started my hhj...my sister's friend has some of the worst hair i've ever seen...whenever i see her i cant stop staring...most of the time she wears the front braided with a horrid raggedy synthetic phony pony thats 3x the size of her head sitting like 2 inches from her forehead looking a mess, but her own hair is worse...her edges are crispy and broken off from relaxers, her ends are so jagged...she never wears it down so i only see it in a ponytail, but a lot in the back cant go into a ponytail, then the pieces that can are soo broken off, and you can tell b/c its one piece thats significantly longer just sticking out holding on to dear life, and her hair is sooo dry...i just wanna slap some deep conditoner on her head...the worst part about it is her mom & grandmom's hair is ALWAYS on point...ALWAYS. i could never have my child looking a mess while i'm looking fly...thats backwards.

But then again I bet there those of us who can't be in a room or around:

-women with the body we can only dream about especially after having kids
-women with straight beautiful teeth
-women with beautiful flawless skin
-women who live the lives most of could never fathom
-women whose kids are highly intelligent and advanced at a young age

So I guess I understand the hair snob thing....well, a little bit anyway. :perplexed

I don't think most people were comparing, just making an observation. Not that serious. Carry on.

Sometimes I swear people come in these threads just to start mess....:nono:
