What do you think? I didn't allow them to style my hair for this price so I left. I had already washed and detangled my hair prior to my 9am apt. All they were asked to do is twist the hair like the picture below. I was willing to pay $60-$75 for this service. They didn’t ask me how small I wanted the twists to be nor was two strand twists on their price list.

Yet, I wonder if $125 is the going price...

I seen both links, 125$ dollars for that? its not worth it When I can do it myself and it will look much better.

LOL Natirel Me,
The pics are my fotki pics! But the style is all I wanted, plain ol' twists...
I was too lazy to do my own hair and wanted it professionally done but was NOT willing to pay that kind of dough for that plain style.

Khamit Kinks charges too much for lots of things. I wouldn't go there either.
Well, good thing I have my hair school classmates I can visit :)
It's disapointing to think/know that styling my natural hair will cost more than my cable/internet and phone combined. Not doing it.

Hey Fine babe---hair looking fab as usual.

And no that is far too much---I think that is like 50-65 hairstyle. They aren't using extensions in your hair and if you are coming pre-washed and conditioned--that is too much.

While I think prices are relative and flexible, I have noticed (mainly because I was looking for a natural hair salon) that the prices in the NYC metro area tend to be roughly the same everywhere. Khamit Kinks may be considered on the high end but that does seem to be the going rate of shops that are willing to publish their prices online. I am sure you might find someone that charges less but its been my experience that it will take some extra effort to find that little known shop/stylist.

Normally salons don't lowers their prices when you wash your own hair:nono:A lot of salons will still wash your hair to ensure they are not working on dirty or product laden hair.

How long did it takes them to do this style?

Lawd! $125?? :nono: I know 3 places in the Bronx,NY area that will charge $60 max for twists with your own hair no matter how long. $30 if your hair is shorter than shoulder length. Where is this place OP? They must have lost their minds. :nono:

I don't go to salons for twist sets so I don't know what the price is these days but $125 sounds a bit much unless they were going to do micro/mini sized twists. But what do I know? lol :look:

Shops charge what they can get away with. Several years back when my hair was full APL, I inquired about twist prices on my hair with nothing extra added. I was quoted $110. I said," I'll get back to you." I have yet to get back to them.

The style in the pic was done by me and it takes me a while to do, I get really tired of twisting. Because this pic was taken so long ago, I'm not sure exactly how long but at least 4 hours for me to do.

A shop in the Boston, MA area and yes they did lose it IMO.
I'll look into another salon in Cambridge. In fact let me call them now and get a sense of how much it would be....

Eh. Since you washed and did all that it should have been lower. I would only expect that price if you got a wash and deep treatment as well. Salons in general charge more for longer hair, but if they aren't washing and conditioning it and all that it should be lower.

My cousin is a stylist here. The shop she works in charges $125 for kinky twist with added hair. I have yet to find a natural hair salon that prices were cheaper than regular salons that do relaxed or straight natural hair. :o(

Heck no! Girl, next time you want to do micro twists and don't feel like sitting for four hours doing it just break it up into a two day job. Do the front one day, maybe wear the back in a temporary braid out or twist out puff, or some other creative style, then finish the back later on at your convenience.

I can think of 250 leven things I can do with $125 and paying someone to do what I can do for free ain't one of them!!!

Yeah, this sucks because you are getting "penalized" for having longer hair and getting charged for that...I can understand if they charged that much because they had to add hair because it *seems* like it might be more work...I wouldn't pay $125 for that, especially since you can do it yourself...Sorry about that Fine4s...

Nope. Not worth the price. And there is no added hair too.

I had mini box braids done on my hair before that cost $65 + extra $10 because of my hair length. Those take a lot more work and time than twists. I wouldn't pay more than $85 on those twists, especially since there is no hair added.

That price is way too much considering you did the most of the leg work and all they had to do was twist. No way I'm dropping all them dolla's for something I could do myself.
