At mj1105, I used my black soap once and I didn't have any negative effects just didn't use it again, but have you seen any good hair benefits from the continued use? I need to start back using mine.

lots of people on here no-poo. Atleast they used to.

Is the black soap like regular body soap or a shampoo bar?

It cleans my hair without that stripped feeling.

Everybody in my house knows to co-wash. A bottle of shampoo will literally last a few months here. A bottle of conditioner.... maybe a week.

Black soap made my hair feel as stripped as a SLS poo. My shampoos lasts for 6 months onward. Over a year even at times. I use them now because I'm using more cones. But there's plenty of ladies on here who don't use poos. I'm just not one of them anymore.

I use the Anita Grant poo bars and occasionally shampoo (with all natural shampoo's of course). I may revisit black soap because I liked it for my scalp, I just ran out of it and never bought it again.

I consider all of the above shampoo though...anything with suds is shampoo to me :ohwell:

ETA: well not anything, but shampoo bars are shampoo. Black soap can be used as a face wash or as shampoo...:perplexed

I use diluted castile soap. I boil up whatever herbs I have like rosemary, sage, and nettle. I mix about 3 cups of herbs to 1 cup of castile soap or maybe 1/2 cup. But I hardly use it because I mostly cowash.

I used blacksoap on my face a broke out. I still have the bar and think about using it on my hair but I'd rather not go there.

ETA: I store by freezing because I make a big batch and it lasts a lonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnngggggg time.

I use to use castile soap...I'm thinking about going back to it actually.....whatever I use to cleanse my hair I dilute about a tablespoon in a half cup of water and only do one rinse, never wash with a cleanser twice in one washing....

I use it sometimes, but I crumble a little in a spray bottle, add some oil and water for a homemade shampoo. I haven't been using it lately but I should because my hair loves it.

I haven't used shampoo in over a year. I co-wash. I use baking soda to clarify. No complaints.

I seem to go back and forth with shampooing, though I always end up no-pooing because my fine hair seems to thrive more when shampoo isn't in the equation. I usually co-wash or do an ayurvedic tea rinse and use conditioner to get out any bits of the powder, then deep condition. I find that when I do this a couple of times a week for months on end, my hair is much thicker and I have less shedding and breakage to deal with. One of these days I'll get the hint and stop using shampoo altogether. :yep:

For a period I didn't use shampoo. I'm talking several months where all I did was cowash. I've since switched to a sulfate free shampoo.
