hey im in- i will not be using heat until jan to do a lenght check for apl, then i wont use it again until i do another lenght check somewhere around july to check for mbl- i will be braided up this winter and using my wigs for styling (and warmth- its 17 degrees here lol)

MY BAD:grin:....excellent point

for those who need length checks (i typically don't ...) but YES, OPPORTUNE TIME TO STRAIGHTEN
 
COUNT ME IN! :grin: I only straighten when I go to the hairdresser every 3/4 months but other than that I'll gladly air-dry to waist length. :drunk:

I'm in. I had planned to straighten my hair on New Year's day for a length check. But I've been thinking that I really don't want to straighten my hair - at all. I like it curly. I probably won't straighten it AT ALL in 2011.
 
I was a bit worried when i read no heat till 2012 but i see where alot of persons only plan to straighten once or twice. I have very fine 4B hair so heat has never been a favourite of mine but i will tolerate a little. Anyway i'd like to join this challenge and i only plan on straightening 2X next year. Will update as needed. Happy growing and retention everyone!
 
i'm not even SL yet lol but hopefully im SL by march 25th when i straighten, and then i wont be doing that again until then end of 2011 and hopefully i'm APL by then too...maybe thats just wishful thinking tho lol
 
Cool. I'm in for this non-challenge. :) I was planning to not press my hair until I made BSL anyway. That's probably two years away for me. My ultimate goal length is WL but I know I can hold out for BSL. I will consider it to be a gift to myself when I make it. :)
So I'm making my oath to not flat iron until 2012 or when I reach BSL (whichever comes first.)
 
I'm in. I'm straightening for Christmas this year but after that I won't again until the next year and hopefully I should be BSL by then.
 
I'm in if I can include my blow dryer when i do Aphogee treatments. I dont touch the hair, but it needs to get hard

Normally i would go all year without heat too but since im in all these other challenges i guess i will update (but i dnt know i might change my mind and not use the heat at all nxt year)
 
I'm in! Not planning on putting heat to my hair anyway so this works! I am transitioning and trynig to get to TBL by Dec 2011 by God's grace!
 
I'm really in. I'm eat length right now, bc'ed just over 3 weeks ago. I'm not interested in sl right now. My short term goal is apl. I'm hopping that I can reach this ambitious goal by year end 2011...
 
OK 1 question..does indirect heat count..cause I've been itching to do a roller set..but other than that I dont plan to flat iron or blow dry for the foreseeable future...
 
I'm in...I do plan to flat iron in a couple of weeks for a length check but after that I won't flat iron anymore until WL. Plus I need to retain every strand possible and no heat damage :grin:
 
I pledge to not use a drop of heat (direct or indirect) this entire year. I was completely heat free my first year and I retained 7 in. in that year!! My second year I used heat about 4-5 times :blush:. Heat is not my friend.

I also pledge to not use heat until I hit HL. I'm BSL now, so I'm hoping I'll be there in a year to year in a half+. Either way it doesn't matter. No heat till HL!
 
I only used direct heat once this year. I'm picking up the pledge for no direct heat 2011 no problem with that...but I just got the Pibbs 514 for my bday and I plan on roller setting a lot more. I'll use indirect heat with the hooded dryer until half dry.
 
i straightened my hair thursday w/ a round brush and the blowdryer :ohwell:...i was gonna do a rollerset, but i dont actually know how :look: ...in my defense i didnt wanna use heat until i was SL which i am...i'm gonna get my mom to rollerset my hair in march, but wont use heat again after that until next fall/winter or whenever i reach APL
