Wow, I have never noticed before. When I am lying down I am generally asleep. I have noticed lately that when I am falling asleep my scalp gets really hot and sometimes I even have to part my hair and point my head toward the a/c. Its like my head has menopause and my hair has hot flashes.

Thank you A Rosie World.

I think it depends on what is in my hair, not sure if it's a "growth" itch or not? My hair was itching like crazy when I left my MT in overnight. I thought my dog had given me fleas or something!!

I don't get growth itch. lol, when my scalp itches that means that it's dirty and needs to be washed. Or it's dry and needs some oil.

But from a scientific standpoint, it makes sense that hair would grow more when a person is in a restive state. Not necessarily lying down, but actually asleep. When we're awake, the body is usually concerned with keeping us alive and in a comfortable state. But when we are sleeping, that's when the body takes the time to regenerate and repair itself, because there's not really much else to be doing. And since hair tends to be an afterthought for the human body, it makes sense that it would produce more of it when there wasn't anything else to do.

Sometimes I my scalp feels like there is something crawling on it especially when its clean but I dont know if that is growth itch or just a refresh scalp.

Itching is not a sign of growth. My hair grows normally whether I am lying down or sitting up lol. I have no itch problems lying down.

When the scalp itches, even when clean, it's more likely due to irritants in the shampoo and products we use than "growth" itch (fragrance, for example, is a very common irritant.)

When it itches I wash it and/or moisturize my scalp. One of the worst itchies I've ever had are from a sew-in weave. Lawd have mercy! I took that weave out after a week!
