Long story short.... my mother hated natural hair and said the most 'ignit' things in 2004 about my natural hair :blah:, fast forward to 2010......

My mom (in the purple) now has SISTERLOCS and has not permed for over 5 years! :dance7:

I have SL too (I'm in the brown). I have been natural for over 6 years...do the math lol.

moral of the story...be patient, stay natural and let life happen :yep:

Absolutely beautiful Netta! Both you and your mom! :yep:

Yes!! Girl my sister would say all sorts of negative things about my grass. Seven months later, she's transitioning to being natural. :yep: Even my mom (at 70 years young) is going natural! It can (and does) happen. Keep your heads up ladies!

My mother still says negative things..I haven't permed in 3 years, and natural for 2 years. She say's my hair is 2 thick or 2 big. (Which is funny because I LOVE wearing my hair big)..My mother's side of the family likes slick, straight hair,my younger sister decided to go natural not 2 long after I did, and she is only 17, and doesn't like the judgment and ridicule at all. My older cousin(on my fathers side) and I went natural around the same time..(we look like sisters lol) My fathers side is much more accepting of it. However I know my mother will NEVER give up on her beloved relaxers..hey thats her choice..2 each their own

I LOVE BEING NATURAL :yelling at the top of my lungs lol:dance7:

I was interested in going natural for years but my husband was always very discouraging and seemed to really dislike natural hair in general. I hit a point where I needed to bc because of a terrible relaxer incident. I hesitently told him I wanted to bc and asked what he thought and he said "do what you need to do" or something like that. Initially he never really said much about my hair but I could tell he didn't like it. After about a year he fell in love with my hair and when I caved and relaxed (twice) he was disappointed and missed my natural hair. Now that I am natural again he is very happy and keeps asking me if I'm going to cut it again, each time I say no, I'm done with going back and forth, and no more bc's he says good, and smiles.

OMG were you on a cruise....that looks just like the boat I was on for my cruise this past june.

BTW I'm glad your mom came around. You both have lovely hair.
