Do some women really believe that...?

I'm just kind of in awe that you spoke to them for so long, but I wasn't there so I can't really judge. I tend to walk away from people who act like all they want is to cause trouble. I can't be bothered with crazy folk. Whether her intention was to be nasty about your hair, or to be nasty about where you came from, she wasn't worth the time nor energy in my book.

Then again, I'm often told I'm overly passive. >.> I just find some people overly aggressive. If you have no place in my life and don't affect anything, go away.

I am usually that way, to be honest. But this was on the heels of being yelled at by some dude for simply asking a question so I had had it up to here at that point. Was not a good day for me, haha.

Before I make an assessment, what was the reason for the altercation? And yes...it does matter.

 Sometimes itches be trippin'. I'm just sorry you had to experience that level of ignorance.

Those young woman suffer from a lack of any sense of self. The fact that the ring leader behaved towards you the way she did demonstrates this.

When you have a knowledge of who you are and where you come from, it is impossible to be able to look at another African woman (no matter her nationality) and make such ugly and ignorant remarks.

I think that she would have reacted this way if you were relaxed, actually. Women like that tend to dislike women who embrace their "organic" hair. Organic hair is relaxed or natural, as long as it grows from your scalp.

That is why I say this had nothing to do with hair. She probably did feel superior with her wig, because that lace-front (how ever awful it was) was a security blanket. Women like her use wigs and weaves as a type of mask to hide who they are from the world (not so much a beauty accessory like so many here).

It's effective, apparently, you mentioning her plastic hair was a slap in the face and return to reality that she wasn't expecting. You saw through her facade and called her on her it, thus prompting her to try and "call you out" by mentioning Africa and Jamaica in deroggatory terms. And please believe, those were the last ditch attempts of a sore and hurting soul who was attempting to hurt you with words that have probably hurt her in the past. Only it didn't have the effect on you that they would have on her.

My 3 year-old sister called me a lamp once. She was so frustrated and angry, that was the best she could do. :lachen: Not that it's at all funny in a grown woman like your attacker, but was giving you what she thought would be the death blow to your psyche, and it just made her look foolish.

Sounds like both of y'all were mad, lol....but aside from all that, I really do think there are lots of people out there who would rather have someone else's long, straight hair glued or sewn onto their hair than wear what comes out of their scalp. Doesn't matter if your hair is longer than theirs....at least theirs is STRAIGHT. Crazy, right?

...Reminds me of my students in high school...They get mad and try to attack anything they can, not realizing how foolish they themselves look...Sorry, OP.

Hmmmm..."organic hair"...I like that phrase. I might have to borrow that...:yep:

I find it hilarious when I hear a black person tell another black person to go back home.

The white person is probably thinking ''both of you shut the f*** up, and go back home''

And then the Native American is probs thinking. ''Shut the f*** up Uncle Sam... Go back to England.. you raggedy puritan.''

Endless cycle.

What you're saying is so true!

The fake lace-fronts/weaves on their heads are more superior to natural hair.
I got into a verbal altercation with some women (long story) and she had the most plastic looking lacefront pulled up to her eyebrows...now if I were her I wouldn't mention anything about hair because well, I don't have my hair on my head. But she says, "Go sit your nappy *** down", she said "nappy *** hair" a few more times. Then I called her out on her plastic lacefront, she sat down after that. Well, until her idiot friends gassed her up to resume the harrassment. Because I had an accent, she told me to go back to Africa (then she called me Jamaican, when I seemed unaffected *sigh*) and called me a Jigaboo (I never understood being called a racial slur by someone of the same race *shrug*) which is a whole 'nother story.

Back on topic, plastic hair > real hair?
What gives?

I 100% agree with the bolded :nono:. Ignorance at it's best. She's a damn fool.

BWAHAHAHA:lachen:

Off topic, beautiful hair!!

This is my question. I'd like to hear more about the reason for the altercation... it's not every day that two grown women go at it like that. I don't think this had anything to do with hair.

I haven't seen anyone with a lace front in a while and then i saw someone this morning with a terrible one on the train and it actually made me jump back. I hate that doll scalp look!

Slightly off topic - On the bus today I saw two girls, one was Hispanic and had long hair of her own and the other was black with a long, straight a$$ raggedy looking weave. She didn't even try to match her own hair type or cover the hairline properly. It was just embarrassing to look at. OP It reminded me of the crazy woman you encountered that tried to clown you when her hair was looking a HAM. Some bw have such low self esteem about their own hair that they don't care how their weave looks, just as long as it's on somewhere:rolleyes:.

Can someone tell me wth is up with women doing this?! My friend showed me a picture of this girl before, and she had 4b hair at her hairline, then her weave was bone straight. I was like wait...are people not supposed to notice that??? I was CONFUSED!!

Denial is a funny thing you know...

Wow @ this thread.

OP, I'm also curious to know how this started. Sounds like some words were exchanged before y'all started talking about hair.

OK, I didn't want to go off topic but here is the story:

I was on a Greyhound bus for 22 hours overnight back and forth (so 44 hours) for an out of state job interview (Was too broke to fly ) Anyways, we're almost at my destination and we stop near a McDonalds. I go to use to use the bathroom to freshen up and was about to begin brushing my teeth when a few more ladies walked in. So I stood to the side and was brushing my teeth so other people can use the sink, my intention was to wait till everyone was done to rinse.

Anyways, some lady goes "Go ahead", so I was doing the spit and rinse thing before some lady walks out of the bathroom and I move aside again. Then she says out loud and irritated, "I don't know why this girl is taking so long to brush her frigging teeth". Then I answered, "What are you talking about? You clearly say me waiting for people to finish what they were doing. Of course, it's gonna take me longer". Anyways, she gets on my case for brushing my teeth in a public bathroom, so I tell her to leave the bathroom since she has already washed her hands. Her friend comes out and she starts yelling and clapping over my head as I was finishing up, "S*** S***!!!...*unintelligble stuff*".

The main lady left, then her friend decides to pick up from where she left off and said it was gross and I left my spit on the sink. Some lady used the soap foam just minutes before and left really quickly and left a mess (I guess she wanted no part of this haha). Anyways, she seemed slightly calmer but we still disagreed and I left the situation.

I was waiting at the food counter then I hear her say out loud as she walks out the bathroom, "These people need to go back to Africa". I ignore her, and think that's the end of it. But it wasn't.

We're on the bus, I'm listening to my IPod, then she turns in her seat and says something to me. I removed my headphones like, "What?!". She says "Hi" with a fake smile so i return the gesture. Then I hear her and her friends giggling and mimicking my voice. As I said wrong day for me, I got yelled at by a bus driver not long ago for asking him what door to line up for my ticket so I pretty much wasn't gonna take any more ish that day.

I walk up to her seat and say, "Miss, if you have something to say, you can say it t my face". Then she tells me to sit down, calls me a Jigaboo, that was when I laughed in her face like "Really?". I don't think she saw the irony. I left anyway, then she says, "Go sit your nappy a** hair down...nappy a** hair (x3)". So I point out her fake lacefront and tell her she's the one that needs to be sitting down. She did.

Then she came to my seat, threatened to drag me off the bus if I came in her face again with my Jamaican *** etc. I push her pointing finger away. I tell her I'll call the police if she touches me. She says call them, her friends say, "She won't do nothing, there's 3 of us". They talk about me some more, they're about to get off at Newark, she takes a picture of me so she remembers to kick my a* if she sees me again. I offer to pose for more pictures. Her and her friends left, banged on my window, mouthed some expletives, and continuedd on with their sorry lives.

By the way, this was all with the friend of the woman that said I was taking too long. The end.

Now I don't know about you, but I go on a lot of international flights and I see people brushing their teeth in the bathroom. Maybe I was crazy to do that.

I thought the exact same thing! It was too funny that to me that some people can't see that.

After reading the whole story..I think you shouldn't have even replied when she said you were taking too long to brush your teeth. I mean...what was the point of you replying? At that point you should of known they were looking for trouble.

I just read your full story and I'm :nono: smh.

I've been to Africa many times, it's a beautiful continent. I don't understand how saying 'Go back to Africa' is a diss lol. I'd glady go. There's this sad western propagation that all Africa has is Poverty and aids. I've been on Safari, and I've seen the pyramids - it's all breath taking. I love the people, the food is great... and I don't have to wonder if it's going to rain today, like I always do in England. So if somebody says 'Go home' I'd reply 'No problem mate, are you going to pay for my ticket? I'm kinda broke right now.

The woman you encountered was an imbecile, a low life.. and I'm sorry you had to go through that. It's sad that she thinks she's better than you because you have an accent. I'm not going to lie, I find accents amusing sometimes.. but I also think they're pretty cool. I can put on a good yardie accent... you shoulda told her 'shut ya mouf you bumbaclut.'' Anyway you sound like you have a good head on your shoulders. Don't waste anymore time thinking about the raggedy woman with the nasty head lace weave.. she probs will get STDs in the future because she's so nasty. Keep your head up girl, and don't get offended if anybody says go back to Africa.

Africa is beautiful. HAKUNA MATATA

You are the only person to freshen up and those heifers are going to talk about YOU?

You got out of your seat and walked up to them? I would have been a total punk and sat back there and ignored them. I probably would have looked around like, "Who these crazy women talking to? Y'all know these witches?" Itches are crazy. They'll cut your left tit off.

Don't worry about it. Good luck with the job!

NOt worth my time. I wouldn't have entertained them. You got your head all worked up (not attacking you) over them, Put them in a box in your head and store them outside for garbage.

I really don't like females like this, starting to call out racist slurs go back to your country (how dare them) , go back to your pig pen. :nono:

I think it wasn't so much about hair per se, as much as she was attacking you either on something that was different or attacking you on your strength. One effective way to attack a person is to tear down something they do well. If you can make them defensive on their strongest point, the rest is easy.

Which is to say, don't take it personally or literally. She was just a low class person in a nasty mood (and quite possibly high on something to boot). Shrug it off.

First thing first,IA with you ,some women feel as if their wig/weaves is their own hair and make a statement ofbeing well groomed.More often than not they fail.
2nd:Do you reallly care about what she said ? She obviously got issues hatin on natural hair ,whoever does that got self esteem problems .
How sad is it ,that a black woman would make such selfhhatred comments to another black individual ?
I won't call her names..I feel sorry for her .

Me too, and I've never had an issue when I did or see other people freshen up. What kind of nastiness they on? :drunk:
