I'm on here, the most and I was on BHM......I haven't seen the cattiness on BHM, but I have seen the cattiness on here, and in a way that's why I stopped being on here so much, and I think after I reach bsl or full apl, I'm going to stop coming on here.......I've tried not to let it get to me, but it's funny how so many people are rude to people they don't even know......I will either be a lurker or just keep it simple and visit here every now and then.......

Napturality
NC.com

I mostly post here because I feel unworthy of NP. NC.com basically for buying products.:nono:

not to start ish or anything, but I find this VERY hard to believe. IF you indeed did read that, it was probably a post from someoen saying they didn't think that their hair was growing/that afro hair doesn't grow. There's so many of us over there that are skimming bsl or bsl or even mid back....... AT NAPPTURALITY WE DON'T DO THAT BLACK HAIR DOESN'T GROW STUFF:nono:

I'm on KISS (Traycee's site)...which I LOOOOVEEE!
LCHF (love love love this site)
and Nappturality...This was the 1st one I joined...When I told my newbie story and that I wanted to grow my hair long...I did not get a "welcome to Nappturality" or "happy hair journey" or anything...The first response was "why do I need to have long hair?". Then she and others proceeded to see if I had low self-esteem because surely thats the ONLY reason I want LONG HAIR....Not even knowing me and that as a previous relaxed lady I LOOOVED my short cuts to DEATH! (don't worry I set them straight).

I read the rules, and tried to not mention heat WHATSOEVER....and watched people who missed the memo on the No Heat Conversation rule get almost chewed out for forgetting the rule.....So after a few months I stopped going (end of 09).

I went back (to an updated nappturality site with a newer look) at the first of the year (Jan 2010) because I'd quit the crown and glory method, and was looking for new natural styles since I was APL then. I happened on the Terminal Length convo-and agreed with 4 or 5 other posters that I don't think people with Afro Textured hair down their back are OUTLIERS or special...i think we all can grow to WL and beyond (3b 4b or whoever), and that no one really knows their TRUE terminal length because of all the things we do etc, etc, and because the OP thought I said terminal lengths don't exist...which it probably sounded like I said it...I then had my very intelligence questioned, and was asked if my head was on my body straight (literally)...which hurt because the OP has her own blog I frequented........so after that, I have quit on that over-militant site where the few make it unpalatable and unfun for everyone else. I think that the site is too limiting and too strict, and undemocratic. I think that some of the women there think they Know everything about natural hair and everyone else is just dumb...so.....that site is no longer for me....(rant over).

Extremely true! LMAO @ "basically saying that afro-textured hair doesn't grow long" Have you looked in the Challenges section of the forum?!

There are like 7-8 BSL, MBL type challenges going on. The vibe of NP is having healthy NAPtural hair. Not just natural, but naptural. (please no one start chiming an talking about elitism or any of that other crap..plz...)

Uh oh...I didn't read your post....I am hoping that the post I ranted about (Terminal Lengths) was isolated too, but unfortunately my experience has been negative...I can only speak for me.........The best thing for me is to just not visit....rather than start some ish with some women I don't know.....But IMO I think some of the ladies ARE elitist......MANY..... AND in a # of forums.......Not just the hair ones!

Since the incidents, I have still referred new naturals over there a # of times...Thinking maybe their experience will be better than mine......Cause at the end of the day....its about being NAPtural...which is why I joined in the first place.........JMHO....

First site I ever joined was Naturallycurly.com. I've been there for 10 years. I remember when Nappturality started b/c the owner was a frequent poster at NC.com and didn't feel it met her needs. I still go to NC.com but not as often.

I also post a lot of pictures on K-I-S-S and sometimes check out member pages and photo albums. It's a nice site. It's not as active though.

My "home" is here though. I think it's the combination of support for relaxed and natural heads, straight and curly styles, and a sense of sisterhood among AA women.

I'm a member here, of course, BHM, and K.I.S.S
my fav. out of the three would be here. Im rarely on K.I.S.S (actually thinking about terminating my membership as we speak). BHM is OKAY...I mean that's where I learned the basics of hair care from....but in all honesty...I didn't feel welcomed while on there, seemed like all the chicks were already "Cliqued" up and I didn't fit in anywhere (wow doesn't this sound like a sad high-school drama story? lol). I mean I still visit it from time to time....but THIS is homebase for me

DHCF

I am member @ Nappturality but just lurk.

I can't remember whether or not I ever joined NappyMe

I am only active here at the moment.

BHM is my home (I'm on there all day, every day!)
LHCF (of course but I don't post as much over here... I use LHCF more for research purposes or if BHM is really really slow)
BHP (I've post like twice)
KISS (I've posted like... once)
and I lurk on NC (yes I'm relaxed but I still like lurking over there)

I was on Healthy Textures (Macherie Amour's site) before I joined LHCF, but I can't afford it anymore, and I get as much, if not more, info and sisterhood here than I did there. I've never joined any other hair care sites, though I have lurked on a few. I pretty much get what I need here, and more.

when I first thought of healthy hair, i found naturally curly but somehow I got the impression that it was more for white people with curls (???? i know now that this is not true, but for some reason I thought it was for white people, or for people of color with looser curls than mine - or what I thought mine would be).

I just couldn't get into nappturality but I did learn a lot from them, then I found BHM and LHCF at the same time. I posted like 3 times at BHM and didn't feel very welcomed.

I lurked at LHCF obsessively for months and when I joined it was like BAM! This is where I wanna be!

Im a member of K.i.s.s and BHM-my faves are LHCF and K.I.S.S! I love the visuals I get from kiss as well as the interactions. K.I.S.S to me has everything on the site and from content to photos to videos and interactions... I like that! Thanks Traycee for keeping K.I.S.S free!

Didnt know if you knew but K.I.S.S-Traycees site is just like the okld Healthy textures-but it's free-Love it and Traycee is a sweetheart so that helps!

Hmmmm, I'm on:

1. Long Hair Care Forum (member, of course)
2. Black Hair Care Forum (member through HairFinity.com)
3. Nappturality.com (lurker)
4. subscriber of several of the YouTube channels (in the process of building my own)
5. Napturalroots.com (lurker)
6. Hairlista.com (member)

I TRULY learn the most from this website! I really enjoy LHCF! :yep:

I'm a member on BHM and just recently subscribed here.
BHM was wonderful for when I was first starting out as a newbie, since I could be active for no charge. However, due to their ads:blush: I haven't been as motivated, although I still go on from time to time.
I'm enjoying being able to 'participate' on this forum--no more lurking!

dang that sucks. i didn't even participate in that thread; i'm not crazy. :nono: i've seen other poster ridiculed for having their own opinion instead of conforming with the other ladies on the site. when i first joined, i was soft, but now i've gotten over it and just get in where i fit in over there. ♥
