The average white woman, who doesn't cut her hair, has damaged, thin, dry APL hair. It's Asians that tend to have long hair.
That statement is just dumb and wrong on so many levels.

as if.....I was going to make the same comment as one poster above. Ive noticed that most white women have damaged hair that is no where near in length where it could be. Little white girls tend to have beautiful healthy long hair. It'll all go as soon as they start to blow dry and dye it constantly. I do not envy their hair.

Are they trying to say that the white race are the only race that can grow long hair? That is just ignorance at its best! I think they may have forgotten to look around them.
 
I'd say, "would I fare better in your eyes with short damaged hair, or a bad weave? Would that allow me to continue on being a black woman in your eyes"

I've never seen a white person with hair my length rocking twists, box braids corn rows as much as I do that's for sure...then again, I'm not enjoying my hair so....
I have no words...

Yeah but ladies....there are some ladies right here among us whom, before LHCF, thought only people with certain hair textures could grow long hair [hopefully now they've learned]....
So imagine someone who is not into hair as we are on LHCF...You know they're on some OTHER stuff.
 
These people are trying to put you down. Some people have a psychological need to be better than black people. They have low self esteem and the only thing they can cling to is being born white/Latina. Now you are probably smarter, prettier, better off in your personal life, and now you are taking their long hair. These are people trying to claw themselves up on your back. Best thing to do is keep flaunting all your gifts with a smile.

I went to a college where there was only a 3% black population, so I was constantly surrounded by white women. Even though the school was about 80% white, there were maybe a handful of white women with long, lush hair that I actually admired. The rest looked a HOT *BEEP* MESS!!! All scraggly and straw-like... just dry and disgusting. I think they think that they can do whatever they want to their hair and it will be okay... like only every OTHER race has to actually put effort into hair. If I'm trying to emulate anyone, I'd say Indian or Pakistani or even Chinese, but definitely NOT white women (in general).
 
Like i said in the other post, I want long hair so I can look like a Brazilian. Don't nobody want to look like no white woman! They age wayyyyyy too fast.
 
My answer if I answered at all: I am trying to emulate my Great Grandmother and my Abuela not a white woman, Sorry! That wasn't the look I was going for. African people have long hair too, not just Whites, R U Serious that everyone else has short hair but the old sacred ones B to the S.
 
Comments like this are so stupid. No matter how long my hair gets or how straight it is I will never look like anything other than a black woman and I wouldn't have it any other way.

OMG YES!!! I always wondered WHY people have said black women want to be like white women when we relax or wear our hair straight? I could see if we were all walking around with APL/BSL blondish straight hair. Then okay, I could see that argument.

When I see black women with relaxed/straight hair (real or weave) their hair looks like all the rest of the black/brown folks in the world (Asian, Latino, Native, Pacific Islander, Indian, etc). Not saying we want to be them but if people wanted to say we wanted to be like anyone else but our own we should be compared to other minorities and NOT white women.

Example: In the City of Detroit I would say about 80% (give or take) of the black women who wear weaves, wigs, LF’s always gets Jet Black/Black shiny hair. How many white women you know with NATURAL Jet Black Shiny hair (Not many, only Goths and they dye their hair)? Now compare that to how many Asians, Natives, Indians etc walking around with NATURAL Jet Black Shiny hair (BILLONS!!!!).

Yep I buy #1 for my pieces too! I think the Asians/Indians make the hair weave to look like their own.

Well...that was full on out of line. It is extremely unfortunate; we can dumb it down to hate, but some people are simply ignorant. I would have to agree with SmilingElephant (love your hair BTW), speaking for myself I have abandoned trying to explain my hair to folk. I am aware enough to know when there is a genuine interest, but the MINUTE it turns into something that does not sit well with me; I shuts it DOWN.

I am done with trying to justify my decisions with regard to hair... It seems (MY pov) that every since "Good Hair" was released, folk feel they have been "educated" enough to discuss the topic and pass judgements (blank stare). In reality, they aren't...what they have is an opinion formulated on swiss cheese information. To keep it grimey... opinions are just like...well...you know.

Wow...yeah you need to stay away from those b****es. They are on some serious hateraid. I read your other post too, and they just sound ignorant. I would have told them I'm trying to grow long hair because I know I can, despite what you think and to show everyone else that Af-Am women can grow long healthy hair. That will give you more of a valid reason to be a HATER, B****!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL!
 
If you coworker is continuing to say stuff like that. Just tell her very nicely if she does not stop you will take her to Human Resources. She is actually creating a hostile work environment and this is not tolerated at any work place. She is just hating.
 
When I was little a white girl told me that white people were superior because they could have different color eyes and hair. I didn't know what to say and I went home and told my mom. My mom said that dogs and cats have different color eyes and hair. So what does that tell you?

My mom was good at that kind of thing. She knew exactly what to say to folks like that.
