So I was ambling about Walgreens during my lunch break today, and came across this expandable ponytailer by Scünci. It looked like it would be a nice, versatile tool for updos, and would hold really well, so I grabbed one. I just tried it out and I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship  My octopus clips better watch out...

Here it is closed all the way:

Here it is open:

I know it looks a little scary  but it's actually really comfortable and not gouge-y at all!

Here is my hair before:

And here is a ponytail made with the expandable ponytailer:

Up close -- it makes a pretty little pattern in your hair where the grips are:

Here I am making a bun:

And secured with the expandable ponytailer:

Here's a slightly looser/messier bun, secured a little higher:

They also had it in brown/tortoise shell. I may have to go back and get one of those--I can see this becoming my go-to hair toy!

Oooh! That is too cute! You made me laugh with your scary face, lol. It does look a bit... imposing. Like if you fell down with it on you'd be on an episode of Code Blue. I may have to get one of those, it's hard to find things that fit in my hair anymore.

ETA: how much did it cost?

Do you think it'd work in curly hair?

I'm sure it would -- as long as you can get all your hair through when it is open at its widest, you're good. Just close it down as much or as little is needed to hold your ponytail. Actually it would probably be really cute with curly hair.

On the package it says, "Finally...a clip that can adjust to all hair types!" -- I actually think it may not be lying  Even if you have super thick hair, you just wouldn't need to squeeze it closed very much for it to stay.

Probably it's also a nice alternative to those who have issues with headaches, etc. from tools that grip too tightly. It's very gentle :yep:

Walgreen's eh? I might have to look and see if Target has one, as I almost never go in Walgreen's. $5 isn't bad at all.

I purchased one of these a few months ago and when I tried to use it, it literally broke apart in my hands. Like, 20 minutes after I bought it, it was in the garbage can. Maybe I just had a bad one...?

I like it. I probably wouldn't have looked twice at it since it looks so scary. I'll have to look for it in my target. Or I might order off walgreens.com next time I buy something else.
Thanks for sharing!

Love the pics. I will definitely be on the look out for this. Thanks for posting about it. :)

OMG! I totally am in love with this! Walgreens? I am so stopping by Walgreens tomorrow to get me one! I'm getting tired of my sock, lol. And 5 bucks is not bad AT ALL.

your hair looks beautiful!!
LMAO @ your scary face
*repeats to self* you are strong. you are bigger than your PJ habit. you do not need this right now.
:look: :giggle:

I want one and my hair is not even at the point where I can use it. :lachen:

Very cute though. May get one still because when my hair is long I can never find anything to hold all of my hair securely.
