I just want to get an idea if this is something I want to get. I'd never heard of them before coming here. Also any info you can provide about them would be helpful since I know nothing about them. I like the curly/wavy texture

Here are some pics, I have gotten tree braids twice first time with curly hair, second time with straight hair

Thanks for the pics NubianGoddes3. They all look Fab! :gorgeous: I have tried to do these on my own head before :nono: HAM city. I wish I could do this cute style.

I'm gonna try this on my cousin:yep: I'm gonna ask her if she wants wet n wavy, curly or straight, you seem to get the best coverage with textured hair though:scratchch

I need a guinea pig:lachen:

I really like these styles by Kristen Locke (Wet and Wavy Human Hair)

You don't need any extensions love! All that long gorgeous WL hair....you should do cute styles with your own hair I LOVED the pix of your braidouts:love3:

Thanks for the pics so far. I'm still tryna decide :ohwell: They still look strange to me cause it looks like a weave but then you see tiny individual braids. Plus alot of the images I've googled the hair looks synthetic and I don't want anything too full. Do these take as long as microbraids? How long do they last? Do they help with growth?

They are done differently. But mine are done with cornrows straight to back of my head with the extension hair pulled out. To undo them is to simply undo the cornrows.

I'm very new to braids. I had mine done a week ago. She did individual braids and it took about 8 hours. I used wavy human hair. Will post my pics tonight.

nope, from the tutorials i've seen on youtube, they're just tiny cornrows where you do 2-3 revolutions of the cornrow then remove a tiny bit of the extension hair...then when you run out of extension hair, you braid in another piece. they look really easy to do if you know how to cornrow with extensions....the only trouble is, i don't :ohwell: also, most of the ones i have seen use human hair, although i saw this one girl use plain ol' $2 kanekalon and hers were still very pretty. they don't take nearly as long as micros....about 2-3 hours from what i have seen, or as long as it takes your stylist to cornrow your hair. they should help with growth since they are cornrow-based.

they intrigue me for the same reason crochet braids do...they look like a much more time consuming style, but they really aren't, and are great for growth!

So to the ladies that did it on themselves how'd you end the braid? Alot of ladies say tie a knot at the end of the braid.....i'm gonna hook my cuz UP for her b-day:grin:

Are they cornrolls or are they individual braids....? and if they are individual how do you comb the loose hair and not catch the braided part?

Here's mine!! I have cornrow tree braids with individual tree braids in the front (bang) area and in the nape. I love them!!!

This is my first time getting cornrow tree braids (the individuals last as long as micros and take just as long to take down). It took about 6 hrs because of the individuals. The stylist left my baby hair out since I was concerned about my edges. She slicked them down with whipped shea butter (I use mango butter). She did not braid tight at all. Since I have human hair I'm aiming for 8 weeks.

I think these can be safe for weak edges as long as the stylist takes care when braiding and as long as your careful and not pull on them too much. Put them in a lose ponytail and cover with a bonnet at night. HTH!

My tree braids. My hairdresser takes about 1.5 hrs to do them.

can someone post a really good video? I found a few on youtube, but they're not as clear...I want to forward this to my hair dresser - I've never seen this before, so neat:grin:

Here are mine, I kept them in for about a month...washed once a week, sprayed with Infusium 23 2x daily.

In my opinion it's not the greatest for edges but maybe if the braider leaves the edges out and you don't pull your hair back it might be ok.
