Hello all again,

I have recently started my hair care journey (January 1) and have fell off the wagon a couple of times but am working on it. I have seen so many great stories on here and am hoping that with some dedication I will be able to get to where some of you lovely ladies are. So here is my problem I use KUZ deep conditioning once a week, co wash every other day, was using mn for a while but stopped, left my hair really greasy, yuk, QP Elastic every day and dry/wet bunning every day. The outside of my hair is starting to look good and extra mosturized but on the inside it is incrdibly dry and brittle, and its breaking off something serious, only the inside though. I have not had a relaxer since dec 18 since i read that streching was supposed to be good for the hair, and my new growth is more visible on the inside of my hair then on the nape and edges. Is this the reason that my hair is breaking in the center, because of the new growth? How do i get moisture through out my whole head? Any suggestions????

After you cowash are you moisturizing and sealing? Try Chicoro's method, water based leave in, followed by oil (like coconut), and then cream based (something like cantu shea leave in). I hope that helps.

Are you getting out of the shower to condition? Try separating your hair in sections after pat drying when you're done washing your hair and condition paying special attention to where you experience the breakage.

I usually oil my hair when i use the QP elasta, not after washing though, how many times should i be using the oil.

Maybe air dry a little more so the hair in the middle of your head doesn't stay so moist. Wet hair manipulated i know will break off if your not gentle with it. Hoping some pros will chime in to add some more insight for you.

 im supposed to get out to condition,,, oops... no i usually condition in the shower leave it in, do my shower thing then wash it out. how long should i be leaving it in when i co wash???

How does your hair feel after you use your DC, moisturizer, etc..? It could be possible that your hair doesn't like the products you're using. I'm not familiar with KUZ DC, but it is moisture or protein based? I'm thinking maybe your moisture/protein balance is off

I'm by no means a "pro," but here's my two cents from what you described:

1. I'm inclined to agree with DaR3alM3, it could be the wet bunning. Maybe you're bunning too tight, that could be possible. Are you moving the location of the bun around? If you're experiencing breakage in just one specific location, then you may be sustaining breakage because of the constant tension in that one area from the bun.

2. I learned the hard way that you have to take baby steps with stretching. I was relaxing every 8 weeks pre-LCHF and then for my first stretch I went for 16 weeks and experienced A LOT of breakage. I only stretch for 12-14 weeks, but that's because I've honed in on key techniques and I have found the right products that allow me to stretch longer.

3. I know you didn't post your entire regimen, but I don't think I read anything about protein treatments. You have to keep the dermacation line strong and protein does that. When you examine your broken hair strands, does it look like it's breaking from the dermacation line?

I hope that helps and best of luck getting it corrected!!

from reading one of the stickys is feels like the inner portion of my hair needs more moisture because its very hard no elasticity at all.

Actually thats my entire regimine, i dont have any protien in as of yet because my hair is so sososososososososososo dry, i was just going to stick with moisture for a bit. and your so right :yep: it is breaking at the dermacation line, in the middle of my head where the new growth is the most. this is not shedding, Correct? Maybe the stretching is not a good idea for me.:nono:

I really wish a "hair guru" would get in here lol. Personally, I think stretching is beneficial for any relaxed head. The less you're putting harsh chemicals on your strands the better....again in my opinion. I would just say take stretching slow. If you normally relax every 6 weeks, try for 7 or 8, not 16 like I did lol.

If your hair is still feeling really really dry even though you've been focusing on moisture for a couple of weeks then it could be a couple of things:
Again, hope some of this helps!
