Hello,

I'm a little over 10 months into my transition.

I still like to wear my hair straightened, I just don't want to relax it anymore.

I'm having problems finding a good moisturizer that will allow me to wear straight styles with out having 4 and a half inches of PUFFY roots.:nono:

The only thing that I have found is coconut oil but I would like to find out if I have any other options. I like for my hair to feel soft and light with a lot of movement. :drunk:I gotta have my bounce and body:drunk::grin:

Any suggestions???

Neutragena Triple Moisturizer. I love it. Also check out Slyver2 fotki she went a year w/out a relaxer. I am currently following her regi. I also bought the hair dryer with the comb attachement it help my roots get straighter. I am no as far as u r stretching but it helps. 10wks post.

Good luck.

krymsonkween what hair dryer did you buy exactly?

Op, how are you straightening your hair exactly?
what do you use to condition it?

Neutragena Triple Moisturizer.

Good luck.

Thx Krymsonkween....

How often are you applying the NTM? I'm assuming that's a creamy or oil like based moisturizer. I have the NTM leave in but I've only used it once or twice. I can't remember it I liked it or not.

I would suggest something without glycerin (glycerin is a humectant and will draw moisture from the air into your hair, causing frizz/reversion)

I like Elasta QP Mango Butter :yep:

Hi Sharifeh,

I blow dry and flat iron about every 8 days on wash day. I wash with Aphogee Deep Moisture shampoo and I use either Aussie Moist or VO5 Moisture Milk conditioner and then I dc for 30 mins to an hour with Cholesterol. I would dc longer but I don't like having a wet head for long periods of time in the winter. Oh and sometimes I use Aphogee ProVitamin Leave in spray. I really liked how my hair turned out the last time I did that. I may try that on a more regular basis.

This one which is similar to the one Slyver2 uses. It has been a God send and helps me stretch. I also use cowboy magic for my tanlged hair. It melts the knots away.

I use NTM split end repair every other day along with Sally's Argan Oil to seal and it does not leave my hair greasy. (NTM is good but my ends where alittle dry. I use all NTM products, Shampoo, Triple Moisturizing Mask & Spilt End Repair)

Hope I helped.

Thx Barbie.
The only product I can think of that I've tried with glycerin in it was maybe curl activator. I liked using it in the summer when I was wearing my puff bun...

I haven't tried Elasta QP Mango Butter yet but I remember looking at it when at the beauty supply. I put it back cause I felt my inner pj kicking in. But I have been on my best behavior and haven't bought any hair products since before Christmas. Maybe I can squeeze one or two new products in... :lachen:

ITA with Taaliah Waajih moist bodifier. Steam treatments helped me the most during my transistion. You may want to consider Lucky's mom's home steam treament. I use LeKair, but I notice in Winter it works better if I condition overnight. My first winter trasistioning I lost most of my relaxed hair because of a lack of moisture; I'm convinced I kept the heat too high in my apartment, and it dried my hair out really bad.

Looks like there are several things that i may have to look into.

I can tell that my hair is growing but I want to keep it that way. I only experience a lot of breakage when my hair is dry so I just need to find the perfect moisturizer. :)

I like Paul Mitchell the conditioner. I use it on my damp hair for rollersets and it keeps my hair moisturized.

My favorite moisturizer is Frederick Fekkai glossing cream? I put it on my ends and I still have body.
