They did a lovely job!!! Do you plan on making another appt? BTW...You skin is absolutely flawless and glowing!

i love your hair. the style is too cute.
do you think you can leave the twists in without them locking?

Wow! Your hair looks great!

In one of the pics, I thought to myself, her hair looks like it's kind of long. But in the pic following that, I said nah. lol. Then to see the shrinkage pic, I was blown away! I didn't expect it to be that long. Just beautiful! :yep:

Yes VERY BEAUTIFUL and you skin is Glowing. my shrinkage is just as bad. I tell when I'm done with this biochemistry and get into research I'm going to try and figure a way to natural end shrinkage without chemicals/heat.

My undergrad degree is in Biochemisty!!! And you are going to be RICH when you figure out how to end shrinkage. :)

I never been to a consultation. What was it like? Those twists are small. Here's hoping they won't lock up on you. Mousse makes my hair hard so I'm glad that's not the case with you. What did she say about your hair in general? How long do you think the style will last?

My consultation was too indepth that others I've heard. She looked/felt my hair. We talked about products and styles. And I set up an appointment. This is my first experience with mousse as a natural, and my hair still feels great. She said my hair was very healthy. And she was also amazed with the shrinkage. My only problem area is along my hairline where breakage/thinning area is noted. I think this style will last me about 2wks twisted and about 4 days w/ twistouts. The key for me is reducing buildup and preventing the itchy scalp. Cause once water hits my hair is FRIZZ central.

Shrinkage pictures are my favorite kinds and your shrinkage is awesome.

The sylist could not believe how much my hair shrunk up. She kept trying to pull it down in hopes that it would retain some length, but it never did...LOL

it looks gorgeous!!! I wanna see it straightening!!!!!!!!!:yep:

Yeah..The other sylist in the shop asked me if I was going to ever straighten it. I think something this year I will have my stylist professionally straighten it for me.

Came out very nice. I love your hair! For it to last 3-4 wks, I see only the front part being the iffy part re: how long it will last especially each time you wash. How often do you plan on washing?

Yeah..I think the front is going to be a challenge. May have to whip out some gel. I don't plan on washing it. So once my scalp starts to go nuts, this style is done.

oh my I love it! so those are flat twists into comb coils??
looks so lovely.
I think it would last 3-4 weeks

So, she did flat twist along the front. Regarding the back, I am still trying to figure out her twisting style. From what I could see, she first sectioned off the hair, applied the mousse, and combed it through. She then separated the section into 2. Then it's like she was coiling, then twisting, coiling, then twisting. So when you look at it from a distance it looks like coils, but when you look closer, you can tell it is 2 stranded.

I love, love, LOVE your hair:love:! I keep coming back to this thread..lol! The stylist did a fantastic job and you look beautiful!

Thanks so much :)

I keep coming back too. I'm trying to figure out how I can get my hair like that.

I think your hair is gorgeous!!! Do you ever twist your hair?

Where the twists stop and curly hair begin, did she use a rubber band or something to keep it from coming undone?

Nope, she never used a rubber band. She did the front last. And as she was doing the front, she would clips right below the flat twist. Then she put me under the dryer once they were all finished. The clips helped to keep the flat twist from puffing up.

^^^Usually with this style with the right product you don't need to use rubber bands.

I haven't used those when I do this style.

I would agree. How often do you wear this style and how long does it last on you?

This is gorgeous and I think the price was great. Thanks for posting the pics, I was waiting after reading the challenge thread. :-) The one time I went to a natural stylist I paid $75 to get two strand twists and they were probably double or more the size she did yours. And 4.5 hrs was excellent as well. I think they will last, but then again, I'm the type to not let water hit it so that it will last, lol.
Yes, please find out the name of the mousse she used, not that I need any more products.

Yeah...She put my twist to shame, and I didn't think my twisting style was 1/2 bad...LOL

Oooooop - do you like your hair? I loooooooove  it. I am not trying to figure out who I can get to do my hair like that. That shrinkage frightens and excites me. Its like hiding your hair bcuz no one would suspect that it would shrink that much. It is shiny and looks so healthy. I just love it.

I do like my hair. However, stylish small twist are a new thing for me, so I have to get used to this look. I normally wear chunky twist and big twistouts, so this look is very different.

that style is really, really cute!!

and, damn, $65??!! *fans self thinking of my broke college student bank account*
shooooooot....i should start taking some clients and making some bank. :evilbanana:

Girl..If you have the time, definitely start doing some hair and help that college account :)

They did a lovely job!!! Do you plan on making another appt? BTW...You skin is absolutely flawless and glowing!

Thanks so much for the compliment. Yes, I definitely plan on making another appointment.

i love your hair. the style is too cute.
do you think you can leave the twists in without them locking?

I think if water doesn't hit my hair, they will be fine. I also plan on lightly oiling the ends to help my strands from knotting.

Your hair is gorgeous and so healthy. My twists never look that neat.

Tell me about it. She put my twist to shame...LOL

Thanks everyone for the nice compliments and allowing me to share pics of my experience with you. I know many of us pride ourselves on doing our own hair, and I definitely appreciate that. But after 4yrs w/out a break, I just needed some pampering. I called my stylist today to let her know so many loved her work, but she wasn't there. I did however speak to the other stylist in the shop and she told me that the name of the mousse was Silk 2 Foam Elastic. I have NEVER heard of this product, nor do I know what ingredients are in it. I do know that it comes from a company in ATL and they sell exclusively to salons (however, we all know that everything is sold online..LOL). My stylist dilutes the product in water and places in a foaming bottle. She D/Cs with oils and condish, rinses, and twist with only this mousse. She will also spritz the hair with water as needed during the twisting process. My experience with this products has been (+) thus far. However, we all know that products react differently to everyone, so if your hair hates it, don't shoot me :lachen:

That is pretty! Are those cornrows or two-strand flat twists in front?

Never mind -- you answered my question above!
