Ladies,

How does your man feel about you and your hair, your regime, and this website.

Do they support you? Did they think it's just hair? What are your thoughs on this?

Slightly off topic:

I braided (two-strands) a client Monday and I noticed how much her hair had grown from the last set AND how soft, sheeny, healthy her hair looked after her touch up. I kept complimenting it and finally asked who she went to.

HER HUSBAND DOES HER TOUCHUPS!!!

She said he'd learned from being the only male in the household, etc. A stylist had even tried to take him on, but she said she ain't having her hubby doing hair for other women. She's keeping him to herself!!

i told my fiancee i was growing my hair out for the wedding and he just said "why??" i have no reason other then i want long flowing hair on wedding photos. he thinks its kinda an obsession but he keeps out of it for the most part. i think he would rather me focus on other things tho. and he has no problem taking a photo every now and then if i ask him to.

My boyfriend has been very supportive of me during my transition (luckily cause I ain't turning back ) he even try to help me pick out different styles like braid outs and trim my ends for me. Yep he's a keeper :)

I don't blame her!

Oh my how funny!!!:lachen: But all jokes aside...it does help when your man helps with picking out products with you, and helps wash your hair and roller setting it, and oiling your scalp!!!!

I believe it was Sheryl Lee Ralph who said she KNEW her man was her husband to be when he came in, caught her removing her weave tracks, and sat down and started helping her. :)

That story reminds me of my dh before we were married. We were living together and it was a night I was taking out my  micros!! I told him to chill out in the living room because I didn't want him to see me right after taking out those braids! Well, after several hours, he walks in the room and tells me to sit in between his legs so he can take them out for me!! The boy got those braids out soooo fast and had the nerve to say my hair looked cute afterward:lachen: . Anywho, he doesn't mind at all, he loves me growing out my hair, compliments it often, and peeks over my shoulder when I'm on LHCF!!;)

I have to admit, my boyfriend is a ridah! He's been there since I started my hair care journey and of course now he's enjoying the long hair, I even catch him giving tips to his mom and sisters, he should be overly qualified to give advice now . He sat patiently over the years while I was baggying, using S-curl and Vaseline, all which he never understood. All the progress shots that are in my album for the past 3 years have been pictures that he's taken.
His only complaint is if I ask him to take me to the BSS...he always complain about how long we're in there....my line is always "If you like the hair, shut your mouth" :lachen:

Let me say this:

A man oiling your scalp while you sit between his legs can be a MOST sensual experience. T'aint nuttin' like having your mama or grandma doing it!!!!

These stories are CUTE! If your man loves you, he loves you in ALL of your incarnations. Keep the tales comin' ladies. Nice thread Cateyes!

Your man sound like my man. My man has been through it all. S-curl on the chin hair, amla on the chin hair, wild growth oil errr thang. He is my number one supporter and I know (even though he won't admit it) he is more anxious to see my growth goal than I am!

The only thing he don't like is staying in the hair isle for hours. But "if I be good" then he would stay with me.:lachen: My man honestly, doesn't care.

I remember that comment, but thought it was Vannessa Bell Calloway:rofl: Either way a man like that is a KEEPER!!

My BF has so got my back. It's great!!!!

He knows I love this website, asks me why I laugh sometimes or why I'm screaming at the computer screen. He likes to ask "who wrote you?" (most of the time nobody:( ) That's cool!!!;)

But he kinda went off when some of the ladies posted pics of hot men in their siggy's.

It took me a while to convince him that everthing was kosher

thanks a lot ladies:mad:

On the real though, he sees how my hair looks and supports me 110%. He loves my hair long so whatever I do from this website is OK with him.

 I love this thread!

My S.O. plopped me down between his legs and very carefully began spraying and taking out micros. He didn't yank or pull... he had the most gentle touch while combing my hair.....and when they were out he told me I had the coolest hair. :lachen: lol It's only fair because I'm the one stuck doing his butt length hair.

Yes! It's the same with my bf too! In fact I just recently went to the local BSS to get a perm (Vitale). While we were still in the car, I was like "are you sure you want to come in?" He was like "Yeah, of course" (we follow eachother around everywhere)

Once inside I was like a kid in a kandy store. Finally he was like "um next time you can come in here by yourself. You need time in here!"

I said to him "I tried to warn you!!":ohwell:

I remember Vanessa Bell-Calloway saying the same thing.

I just saw this after I posted, lol. I agree with the bolded statement--a man like that is definitely a keeper! ;)

The bold sounds just like my SO! He was so excited when I took my hair down from a wrap after my last relaxer, then he stopped, looked and said "Is that ALL your hair?" That just made my day! His too when I said yes.

This is funny, my SO asks me why am I so obsessed with my hair if I just wear it in the bun. Then he said it looked like a little dog butt. And then he said I was a loser because my avatar was the back of my head, but I told him that everyone's was like that. Aside all that, he did help me take out my micro braids and massaged my scalp. :) But I guess its ok, we have a playful relationship, but he still doesn't understand what's going on.

Until recently I hid my obsession from my boyfriend.

Then it all unraveled the other day when he asked me why the rain made his hair so soft. I remember someone on here asked that question and even though my BF isn't black I figured it was the same reason..so I went on and on about the acid closing the cuticle or laying it down etc..

He just started blankly at me and was like "so are you like...a hair genius?"

He doesn't get it but it doesn't bother him. Until I start talking about conditioner for half an hour.

Hubby's doing my next touch-up whether he likes it or not! Otherwise he's cool, unless it involves scissors.

My boyfriend is very 'supportive' lol. He always wants to know why I'm doing this and that for my hair, I guess cos he's growing his hair too. He always offers to oil my scalp and helped me take my braids out :)

My husband is supportive. He did my highlights for me, he pulled the hair thru the cap in the back and put the mixture on the parts I couldn't see. He will go to the beauty supply with me or for me as long as I write down what I want :-) He says he does it because he loves when other people compliment my or our daughters hair. My MIL is still convinced after 20 years that I have been or at least sometimes wear a wig....he tells her "No ma, that's all my baby's hair"! I Love it! :-)

My boyfriend is very supportive. In fact, he is going to wash my hair for me next week! :D I've never dated anyone like that before. He spoils me so much!

My husband is very supportive, he doesn't mind that I wear my hair in a bun 90% of the time, he actually likes it! He doesn't complain when I go to the BSS a million times, he even organized my closet that has ALL of my hair products in it!

DH doesn't understand why I do certain things, or why I'm always needing to restock on certain products, but he knows my hair is getting longer and he likes it. He does my touchups, dusts my ends, and takes my progress pics. He's also good when I get discouraged, he's like Baby I can see your progress, trying to get me out of a bad mood. It's so cute. He measures me after my relaxer, too.

My fiance's not really into it, but he does think its cool that I take such good care of my hair. He likes it! He supports me on my hair journey and in all of my decisions. He jokingly refers to us as "hair nerds"  His hair is longer than mine (for now anyways  ) and he sometimes will take hair suggestions from me - if they don't involve too much work from him :look: He really does not like combing his hair (he is somewhere between a 3B and a 3C), and always wants me to detangle it for him. I like to do it too, because if he had his way he would just cut out the tangled part and move on. He HATES detangling just that much. I don't let him. He's actually amazed sometimes that I can get certain knots and tangles out without resorting to the evil scissors :yep:
He also helps me do my hair sometimes, helps me measure it, and helps me take progress pics :) He's so cute! He's great. I even hear him telling my sister and his sister and niece how good I am with hair health and that they should talk to me when they have a problem.

Actually, he was with me before I decided to transition, and he was and is my biggest supporter in that area. He gave me the courage to do it, and he insured me that I was beautiful along the way. Now that I am natural, he is still my biggest fan :) I love him!!!!!!!!!!!

Just this week, a friend of mine told me she had her dh do her last relaxer and it came out fine. So I told my dh I am going to teach him how to for my next touch up. We are going to practice with NTM hair mask or other cream conditioner to mimic the consistency.

I use to dry my rollerset with a soft bonnet dryer, which I would go to sleep in (BAD idea, NOT recommended) I would have to be using it for at least 4 hours to dry my hair. My dh demanded that I get a commercial dryer (Belvedere) for home use. It was a little expensive, but it will last a lifetime (10 year warranty) and it dries my hair in about 1hr, 20min, just like at the salon.

He doesn't love and adore bunning, but he does love rollersets. After touchups, I am teaching him to rollerset.

He is the one now addicted to Aveda DR line... He buys it himself when we are low... :)

My husband thinks I'm a little bit nutty because I spend so much time reading hair websites. "How many words can be written about hair, dear?" But, he is supportive of what I'm trying to do. He helped out with my BC, takes some of my progress pics for me, and finances my conditioner addiction. So, he's got my back.:D
