I came across this video today and according to the girl in the video it suppose to be a better way to moisturize hair than the regular DC with plastic cap and hood dryer/heat cap.
Since i have dry hair i want to dry this out but first i wanted to see if anybody tried this method and if it's really good for the hair.

Here's the link to the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oqruPfjYpEg

i haven't tried this method before, but it looks very time consuming. i would just purchase a steamer. and the idea of pressing heat and conditioner into my hair.... i'm not sure about that one.

I haven't tried it, and probably wouldn't due to the fact that my hair is somewhat heat-sensitive, but she has really pretty hair. I see why this would work, I'd just be a little hesitent to flat iron my wet hair. I've done it with a "wet to straight" iron before, but, I wouldn't recommend it.

That's too much for me. I don't know about sliding wrinkled foil paper down my hair, either. I just don't think that's necessary for a good deep conditioning. OP, with all that hair in your avi, you look to be doing fine without that.

Regular ol' DC with a steamer does it for my hair as far as an "extreme" DC treatment. Since using the steamer to DC, I haven't had any "dry" issues.....Besides, that's too time-consuming and scary for me.

I can't get to yt at the moment but based on the comments, this must be the video by HydraTherma naturals. There is another thread on this process already if you search for it. Someone had tried it and posted their findings in that thread.

You may be able to search using that yt link.

Ah I didn't know it was a MopTopMaven video. She has some interesting ideas and suggestions. Not sure about this one...in theory, why not? The iron is on low and shielded.

BUT, I agree that there are less work-intensive methods out there to infuse moisture into your hair. A steamer is a good idea. If no access to a steamer, I have used and found success with the Chicoro pre-poo method with aloe vera (I use gel) and oils. No muss, no fuss really.

I know the one you're thinking of. In that one, she wrapped foil around her hair and flat ironed. In this one (MopTopMaven) she wrapped the foil around the plates of her flat iron and ironed her conditioner soaked hair with it.

Thanks @Your_Cheeziness. Couldn't tell but it sounded close.

That sounds like MopTopMaven, may have looked at the 1st and adapted it. She just changed the location of the foil.

But technically I guess they would work differently. Leaving the foil on the hair would hold the heat in the hair longer. Interesting though

I've seen the method before but never tried it. If any tries could they please post an update with observations of this method vs. regular DC. Thank you for sharing OP. :)

I may try this on a small section of hair. But flat iron damage can be mechanical. The foil will protect the iron but not hair. I will not use the foil if I try this and my flat iron would be on the lowest heat setting.

Also she mentioned this on her site Top Mop Maven..
Precautions:
As mentioned in the video, this treatment should be done in monthly intervals [6-8 weeks is my schedule]
Flat iron should be on the lowest setting, and covered in foil
I think she also mentioned that she usually does it after a Henna Treatment..Not sure its been a while since I watched the video and can't watch it on my work computer

I've wondered about something kind of similar to this myself (I guess its similar). I've always wondered if someone would get better results not using the plastic cap while DCing. Like how the Aphogee 2 step is used. I remember a thread where someone said they used another protein treatment, Emergencee I think, that eay and got better results. Just apply the deep conditioner to the hair and sit under the dryer and let it semi-dry into the hair and rinse.

Meh. I'm too lazy for that mess. I'll stick to my usual weekly DCs, they work well for me.

I thought about doing that since I don't have the space for a hair appliance (steamer) in my home, but my hair is heat sensitive too and afraid the foil would overheat/burn my hair. Ill just stick to holding a hand dryer over my plastic cap covered head when I want to DC.
