What a nice way to start my morning! I have to thank everyone for the encouraging posts. I feel humbled and very grateful. Thank you!
To answer some questions, my last relaxer was May 6, 2004. I have never tried MTG, Lenzi's Request or MN. The first several months after my big chop, I was very consistent with the following: 2 liters of water a day, carrot juice, flax oil, multivitamins and I tried to get enough protein in my diet. For a while I ate protein bars every day. Along the way I took MSM for about three months or so but then stopped. I also took silica for a while there. But I don't anymore.
I was thinking last night about what has made my hair grow steadily because some people have asked me. I said before that I feel like it grew overnight because one day I was just no longer frustrated with the length. I feel like it really started to take off after I started using henna, but that might just be an illusion. I suspect that it isn't so much fast growth, but rather I have been able to retain the length. I cowash nearly daily, detangle regularly and carefully in the shower with seamless combs only, use no heat and wear my hair up every day. I have not trimmed my hair at all since my b/c and I have no split ends, thank G-d. I really believe it's these things that have allowed me to reach this length with steady progress. In general, keeping it simple has worked for me.
Currently I take multivitamins, calcium and vitamin D, 2 tablespoons of organic flax seeds, 2 liters of water consisitently every day. I am now starting to go back to upping my protein.
Thank you again, every one. This thread makes me feel so appreciative.
