Wohoo! It worked, I love this board

I've been going to dominican salons because with at home washes I loose alot of hair and it's never soft. I assumed I had hard water because the salon results were so different.
Yesterday I DC with the Elucence moisture balance conditioner for 15min and my hair was so soft, strong and very bouncy just like how the Dominicans get it. Many products coat hair with healthy "looking" silicones but the hair is dry underneath, my hair feels moisturized not just on the outside and 0 tangles. I also got Aveda's brilliant serum thanks to the board and it's a god send. I love you guys for recommending this!! I can't wait for the rest of my Elucence order to arrive. 10 out of 5 stars for Elucence MB conditioner.
:dance7:

Now on to pics. I'm sorry for the funky camera phone pictures, it looks much better in person. I've long assumed wash n go styles were for white and latino girls, I never thought to try curl enhancing sprays until I found an old post w/ instructions. This is my first try and I'm in shock and in love. My cousin thought I got a wet n wavy weave! It's a shame that for decades we feared getting our hair wet (my grandmother told me if I stand in the rain it would wash out my relaxer:ohwell:), our hair is just as wash and wearable as others and I'm going to wear the heck out of this style. Between Elucence rollersets and wash n go styles my Dominican stylist may never see me again :sekret:
For reference I don't have naturally curly, wavy, 3anything. Mine is 4b. The pics don't look half as good as it does IRL.

That's great. Your hair looks good. Can you post the instructions for the curl enhancing sprays? Or PM them to me, please?I tried the wet n' wavy leave-in but when it dried, my hair was super dry!

Moisturizing beforehand is key, I actually forgot to put in a leave in conditioner
Also don't let it dry hanging down unless you're using a diffuser especially if you're hair is long, mine is brastrap when dry. The extra weight pulls on the waves and makes it dry straighter. I used the technique detailed in the thread. I put a link at the bottom of this post, but here's exactly what I did.

- Conditioner washed with Elucence MB conditioner
- Combed while in the shower, got out with hair very wet, slightly dried the very ends.
- Applied a mix of serum and hold gel (Aveda's brilliant serum & Paul Mitchell sculpting foam, PM products are mostly alcohol free that's why I love them, perfect for blk hair, but you can use any products).
- Started scrunching, then added Garnier Fructis Curl construct and tested out the John Frieda Dream curls (same type of product, I was just being greedy), I prefer the garnier.
- Followed the plooping technique. (put t-shirt on toilet, bent head into t-shirt then secured shirt around my head so all the hair was on top of my head).
- Mix of airdrying then under the dryer with the hair pilled on my head so the curls didn't stretch out by hanging down.

The results were fun, I'd never seen my hair in defined ringlets before. Next time I plan to add a moisturizing leave in and I'm only going to use one curl enhancing product so I can figure out which works best, I may try loose double strand twists to enhance the curl.

Here's the original thread on the topic, Tracy's and lkg4healthyhair's tips are da bomb!!!! http://www.longhaircareforum.com/showthread.php?t=54490

Thank you for posting this. I am glad you posted pics and didn't leave us hanging. You hair looks so nice! I actually want to do a wash n go, but I thought there was no way that I could do this. I am so anxious to try it. Thanks again!

I forgot to add, I took Tracy's tip and wrapped my edges with a scarf so that it's smooth/straightish (I've got an 1" of killer new growth). I sprayed my edges with Paul Mitchell's Awapuhi moisture mist then sealed with Keracare essential oil mixture, I also like kemi oil or carrot oil for this.

your hair is the bomb and just in time for the summer. a much needed alternative to blow and ponytail drying. i'm going to have to try this :)

2nd day update. To keep it from straightening I slept with it pinned on top of my head. I highly recommend checking any curl enhancer or gel for drying ingredients like alcohol. Garnier's curl construct and JF dream curls have moisturizing ingredients like castor oil w/o alcohol. Great style for those that wash frequently or excercise daily.

This AM, I wet it slightly, scrunched some curl enhancer in and used the blowdryer on the lowest cool setting to dry it slightly while it was scrunched in my hand. That way it dries in the pattern of the curl, a diffuser would have been perfect for this.
So far no frizzing or drop in curls. My white co-workers seem a little freaked because before my relaxer I proudly wore my hair in it's natural very kinky state so they're asking me how I got wavy hair, I'm gonna' karate chop the next person that asks me that :hammer:

Still looking good girl! You are a 4a right? What kind of curl cream would you recommed for me?? Do I have to use two? Can I get away with one and a serum?

Are there any pictures of 4a hair? I don't really know the difference between 4a and b, but I think mine is closer to 4b. My hair looks like this when it's not relaxed: (not me in the pic)

You don't really need two curl enhancers, I bought both because I wanted to judge for myself which is better. I would recommend the garnier curl construct, but both the garnier curl construct and JF dream curls are really good and cheap like $5 :D
All you need is a curl enhancer, maybe a gel (I used it to cut down on frizz and hold the style) and any smoothing serum. There are excellent tips in this thread: http://www.longhaircareforum.com/showthread.php?t=54490
