I would continue what I've been doing. I wouldn't even trim it because I don't care about unevenness since I don't wear my hair down anyway

Your hair is pretty. I wouldnt worry about evening it up just yet if u arent wearing it down. Or if you wear it down u can wear a rollerset so with the curls u wont even be able to tell its not even.

I would just dust the part where the little tail is and when it gets a little longer u can try to have a U or V shape and maintain that. There are times when my hair will look thinner on one side or have what looks like a gap but after I leave it alone it always seems to fill in where needed after a couple of months.

If it were my hair, I'd even things up in a hot second. I had a tail that I tried to hang on to in the sake of letting things be but I have learned that I cannot stand unevenness. Chop that longer section off and call it a day.

If I were you, I would just do gradual light dusting of the ends so you dont lose your length. It will all come together.
