I have been wearing my new synthetic wig a few days a week since 11/7. Its APL length and I've noticed its "rough" at the ends. I have shorter wig that never had that wig feel rough.

What can I use to keep the longer wig from getting rough ends?

I have a apl wig it is syntheic i give it a bleach bath. learn it from another forum. i did it to my LF wig too.then i use a litttle leave in conditioner and litttle oil on the ends and it works for me.but i going to get a HUMAN HAIR WIG.LOL CAUSE I WEAR ONE EVERY WINTER SO IT WILL PAY FOR IT SELF IN THE LONG RUN.

Thanks. What exactly is a bleach bath? And does it change the hair color of the wig?

It is the just the nature of synthetic wigs........if they rub on your clothes they will get rough.....

Dont bleach bath a synthetic wig.

YOu should never do a bleach bath to a synthetic wig.... But - you could try a leave in like Africa's Best, and then use a silcone product on the ends.

Baby oil works too - rub it on the ends.

Wet N Wavy Mousse. Scrunch a little bit of it into the ends and then brush through it with a paddle brush. Start with the ends and work your way up.

I ended up using diluted Cream of Nature (yellow cap & green bottle) to wash the wig (no rubbing, just dipping) and then Downy fabric softener diluted in a sink full of water. I then used a leave in (curl friends smootherator) since it has lots of silicones. So far so good!

Thanks I had this same question!!! So just wash it with diluted cream of nature and follow with diluted fabric softener. Will my wig detangler be fine to use after it's dry? I don't have leave-ins with cones.

Ugh, I'm having this issue with my current wig. I'm ready to toss it.

I wanna invest in a nice HH one.

I'm new to wigs but would guess the detangler is fine. I used the silicone to keep the ends that rub on my clothes from getting ratty. I wish I had bought a futura fiber wig that could withstand heat (flat iron, curling iron). My next wig will be that kind of fiber.

Who makes those type of wigs?

Lots of brands have a heat resistant synthetic wig that can withstand heat up to about 200 degrees. Modu Invisilace (anytime brand) makes one....which I didn't know until after I bought my regular synthetic last month.

I did not read the whole thing but washing in warm/to room temp water with a few splashes of vinegar helps. Then afterwards as it is drying add a little bit of very watery leave in and a few drops of silicon based product. It works very well.

how do you get ride of the shine on new synthetic wigs. It's color 1b so it has that brand new black shine. I tried powder but it didn't work well. ;-/

I just washed mine and soaked it in diluted fabric softener. It seemed to tone down the shine a bit. Give it a try, at the very least you'll have a nice soft wig.
