Why waist length? Part II

:heart2:Challenges, :heart2: Waist Length Hair, :heart2:That I'm going 2 be the next Black Barbie:grin:....An AA woman with WL hair is a rarity. I know that I can achieve this goal.:yep:

I just want to see if I can do it and I just love the length. It's not too long where I'm sitting on it and it still looks long when curly.

Ditto. Initially I was aiming for bra-strap but now that I'm there it somehow doesn't seem as long, so now its on to waist length.
Exactly. I don't feel like my hair is long. Honestly, WL might be too much for me but I'll find out when I finally get there.

I don't know if I could grow, or even if I want waist length hair. However I'd like to have twists that, when plump done on damp hair, hang to apl. Any shorter than that and they wouldn't stay on my back but would just keep being bumped up by my shoulders. And to have twists that hang at apl, I calculate I need between mbl and wl stretched. :( That seems like so much hair, though.

Because I want a really nice long braid:grin:..besides my Mother has WL hair and it looks really pretty when it's in a braid, so I'm aiming for that. Plus I'm almost there anyway, just need 4 more inches so why not? I'm sure that if it starts to feel like too much hair at that point I will probably cut it back to MBL and call it a day.

In my opinion, waist length is the epitome of long luscious hair in women of any color. Anything else is too long/boring(hip length and beyond=granny-ish)) and anything shorter leaves a lot to the imagination.

After being told I'd never have long hair, I want it. Being the short haired girl in a family of long hairs is no fun. My hair is beginning to reach unchartered territories now, and waist length would just be the icing on the cake.

I like the look of waist length hair and as others have said, it is a truly unusual length to see on Black women. If you frequent white-dominated long hair boards it is very common to see WL hair. At LHCF, even in a community of women dedicated to healthy hair, once you pass up BSL, the ranks of women who can claim it thin DRAMATICALLY.

WL ensures that you hair still looks long in its natural state even with shrinkage. It also is a personal goal for me because my barrier length seems to be between BSL and MB. I get at least this length even with crappy hair care and no special attention paid to my hair. Just like some women struggle to get their hair beyond neck or shoulder without heroic measures, that is the length I struggle to get beyond. Getting to waist length would mean I finally have breakage under control and I really know what I am doing with my hair.

Prior to LHCF I would have never even dreamed of having WL hair, but after seeing so many women on this board achieve it I just want to see if I can grow my hair that long as well.

I really love big complicated up-dos, and I think you need at least WL to be able to achieve most of them, you don't wanna know how much fake hair, I have to add when I have to attend certain events.

Also, I think it will still appear long in my braid out, and when I wear it curly. I have SL hair now, but my braid out, looks like a short ball of curls, lol

Because I prefer wearing mostly textured styles and "big hair" where shrinkage is a major factor. I need at least WL or HBL so that my hair can hang around BSL or MBL. I would also like to do the "covering of my breasts" thing; DH would certainly get a kick out of that!

wow, if i can get my hair to that length, it would be amazing, but i know i would look like Cousin It! LOL! but i guess because like others have stated, it's rare to see AA women with length like that.

ITA

I want enough length that will hang and by the looks of my shrinkage :ohwell: I will need AT LEAST WL to get that APL hang length, maybe even longer. :lachen:

Also if I ever want to wear it elongated I want some serious shock and awe natural hair to show the world that 4Z hair can and does grow WL. I feel the need to educate folks and I am just the person to do it! :yep:

Looking forward to it.

Like others stated, my hair would need to be waist length for it to appear long unstretched. I want to have really big shrunken fro and in order for my braid/twist/bantuknot outs to be APL, I need my hair to be waist or hip length. I also want to be able to do updo's and buns without having to straighten my hair for them to look right.

1) Because I can
2) Because it would be a great length for the styles I want. Barrel curls would take me to BSL- still long enough, twist outs and braid outs to about BSL as well. And straight would be well- WSL! ;)
3) Because It's sexy :p
4) Because it would give me a banging outta control fro.
5) Because it would compliment my wardrobe.
6) Because it would accentuate the coke bottle waist I am creating
7) Because.

I would like to achieve waist length hair because I favor wearing my hair curly. Occasionally, I would wear it straight but, even when I was relaxed I always wore my hair rollerset or on rods. I favor big hair like Chaka Khan, Rachel True, Bublinbrownsuga (before she relaxed). And in many ways to achieve a great "lioness" look waist length is good especially if you are prone to shrinkage.

It's a Rapunzel Complex in my opinion. I'd love the attention of having WL hair. Fairy tale length...besides...most men love long hair and I'm over 40 but not dead yet.

Yeah, I feel the same way. Now that I am here, it still isn't long to me. I mean, I know it is long but it isn't "long." My goal was always WL though every since I went on growafrohairlong.com.
^^^ :yep::yep::yep: BSL hair is getting to be so common. I'm not impressed by that at all anymore.
Yeah, BSL is so common on this site.
WSL, TBL, and HL are where it's at!:yep:
I agree.
Because when I have longer hair that's past shoulder or APL, I actually take better care of it! LOL I'm too lazy to use heat and all that stuff. Definitely a wash n' go typre. Plus, I want to see myself at waist length... and get those stares!
Yeah, I don't do alot of straightening but with my BSL length layered hair I can do a wash-and-go, put it in a ponytail with shrinkage and still get looks as if it is long, which to many black people it is.

Yeah, black barbie seems cute. LOL.

I think it is a good length.

Long enough to be longer than average, but not so long to be too much out of the norm.

I'm not sure it's my goal (I haven't decided what my goal is yet), but I think it's a good goal for that reason :yep:

Shrinkage.

I can embrace it...when it only shrinks to BSL.:lachen:

 Yeah that.

Oooh, yummy yummy yes.

My goal isn't waist length - it's longer, but I want to grow it that length for all the same reasons - esp. the updo's - I'm drooling at the potential.

Because I think WL will look sexy on me. And my hair already shrinks up since I dont ever use direct heat, So WL will look like MBL on me most times anyway, which is fine.
