So I decided to take the plunge and let my hair go wild and free in a Wng while I pranced around Playa del Carmen for our honeymoon, living in the ocean and the pool. When I wasn't in the water, my hair was being whipped around salty winds and exposed to the sun. I was doing DAILY Wngs and my porous strands were beginning to cry and snap from the constant manipulation. I usually do low manipulation styles and wash weekly, using my own hippie dippie products. So my hair was crying by day 4 . And yet I continued because I love to swim.
So when I got back home , my hair was weak, dry and even crunchy from the differently formulated Extreme Wetline gel that I bought down there. I decided to ditch my hippie dippie reggie because I thought to remove all the chlorine and seawater residue, I had to use store brought chemical ladden products . So I prepooed with Vo5 mixed with aphogee step 1 to add strength. Then, I washed with OGX shampoo (bronze bottle). My hair felt stripped, but that's what I wanted. I wanted to start anew. I then conditioned with a very generous amount of Garnier Whole Blends mask. And holy cow, is that stuff bomb. I found my holy grail for hair screw ups y'all . I removed the numerous knots and tangles, rinsed it out, air dried in twists, then put in some crochet locs using the cornrow-free method and only a shea butter mix.
It has been a week later and my hair is very soft and happy. I haven't added any products since, nor have I washed my hair because my scalp feels extremely clean still. the style isn't installed perfectly because I'm styled challenged but I think it's cute anyway. I still haven't learned my lesson, and plan on living it up in the Caribbean next winter break
