Yes I don't understand why people are ashamed of their starting pics,if anything that proves that they were able to turn their hair around and have the hair game down to a t.
*looks at baby42*

For flat ironing, I use a tiny amount of Design Essentials Reflections Liquid Mist. I
only flat iron myself when I can take my time and concentrate on each session of consisting of about two good irons and another time using the comb. I thinka lot of people rush when flat ironing whcih is why it doesn't come out looking that much of a difference. "Its principle..............PRINCIPALITY!!!!"

This is so true. Take your time. If you gonna use heat, go hard. Shooo, sometimes give it that extra swipe or two.

ITA, I LOVE seeing all the ladies progress, but when i read/see that they had long hair when they were young/growing up it doesn't inspire me as much, simply because they've had it before. However i love seeing them damaged/breaking/never gotten past 8 inches (if that) dry head of hair they is now long and healthy. I can't wait until i am one of those with long hair, to show people it can be done...my hairhas always been thick but NEVER been long, and now that im bald...i can truly show a before and after

Yes, seeing those "rags to riches" stories are very inspiring. I know for me, OTHER people have always considered my hair "long" but I never have. I have always had a headful of hair, THICK hair and healthy for the most part - lacked moisture, but healthy. I think that people choose their inspirations based on their own personal hairsperiences. I will admit that those "rags to riches" stories are the MOST inspiring b/c if they can do it, so can I, but I don't discount those who have always had "long" hair either, b/c I know that I have gained some very valuble information here and am looking forward to my hair being "long" in my book, not just everyone else's.

Crissi: i can't wait to see your before and after shots...grow, girl, grow!!!

WoW!!!! Beautiful Hair ladies. This thread turned out great. Nice Rags to riches. We need to stickie something like this and that other drastic comparisons thread. That thread is sooo inspirational thats why I recommended it but forgot the name..lol. This one is just as inspirational:-)

Wow you ladies are truly an inspiration. I hope that one day I can get to your lengths.

Man, I LOVE this board. Can you imagine what our hair would be like without it?

But you know what else is truly amazing? With this board we can, and hopefully we will, pass our knowlege on to our daughters so that they will grow up with long but most importantly HEALTHY hair and they won't have to endure some of the pains that we had to go through while growing up with short, broken off hair.

I love all you ladies. You are all beautiful inside and out!

:) :) :)

Truthfully I wish I took better and more accurate before photos:( , When I started my haircare journey I was about necklength. Most of my life I had been ear length or below, a true "bald head scallywag aint got no hair in the back":lachen:

With all the progress I have gained since joining this site (I started at neck length and now I am just shy of APL), there is no doubt in my mind that I will reach BSL and beyond:grin:

Also in my siggy are some comparison shots.

My advice is to guard those ends like a jealous lover!
Baby those ends like the spoiled princess that they are!
Keep them satisfied like a baby finishing the WONDER TONIC!:lachen:
I know some people will trim or cut their ends but I have only dusted my ends since early 2000.

Protect, protect, protect at all cost. It is the longest, oldest, and in my opinion weakest hair of all and when it is gone it is gone.

In my case it is also my toughest enemy like a gangster guarding its territory so I have to outwit them when I need to comb them, dust them, or nourish them.:D

Okay I guess I have used enough colorful imagination to get my point across.:look:

Grow ladies grow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

AHHHHHHHHHHHHH i love love love ur hair....!!!!!

When I first starting lurking my hair was around sl with kinda burnt looking ends. I lurked and took a few pointers for 4-6 months and my hair grew a bit and looked a lot fuller and healthier. Here's me 6 months after discovering LHCF and a couple months after deciding to transition. I was so excited about my progress, just cheesin' and swingin'. I was hoping that the advice here could get me to armpit length which was the goal I'd always wanted for years...

it took me a little over a year to get full BSL...

here's my hair now, 3 years after deciding to try out what the crazy hair ladies were saying  ...

co-signing with above, protecting my ends made a huge difference, plus cutting out weekly heat, using different combs and brushes, and changing up some of my products and habits

Good Grief thats some awsome progress...beautiful hair:up: :yay:
