i would like to see some of pics of y'all, too. i am starting at SL and my goal length is BSL. it is so motivating to me to actually see people who started at my same length and are now at my goal length. i have been looking at lot at delta_gyrl's pics for motivation.

@LocksOfLuV: you grew your hair out to BSL in less than a year? is that the "standard" time frame when going from SL to BSL?

how long did it take those who started at SL to reach BSL?

yes, i want to reiterate, please post some pics ladies, it gets discouraging when you are just starting out and some comparison shots would definitely help in the journey. TIA!

Most of the time you would see that in someones fotki or a challenge that has been going on for maybe 6 months or more. But a thread with just pictures of women with shoulder length hair or shorter? Thats a good idea.

Yes!!!! I also think that there's not enough information/pics documenting someone who started with about 0 amount of damaged hair and went on to have nice, healthy long hair. Also, there's a progress shortage of people who didn't have long hair as a child but have long hair now. I am looking out for these people as I continue to progress. Which also happens to be one of the reasons I track my progress so closely.

yeah, People have never seen me with long, healthy hair... and I can't wait!! I was never the girl with the long thick ponytails in school... BUT MY FUTURE DAUGHTER WILL BE

I'm going to go out on a limb here but I think some people don't like to admit that they were pick headed as a child/adolescent. A true inspiration to me is someone starting from very short damaged and progressing to APL or longer.

Yep, rags to riches is SOOOO BEAUTIFUL to me. I know the truth when I look at pictures of me as a child, my poor mama permed my hair at 1 and 1/2... then at about the age of like 9 my hair was starting to get some growth and I took over my hair

So I actually have something to prove to myself and OH to old classmates!!

I'm truly proud when my parents comment on how well my hair is progressing. I want people to be able to see even though you almost NEVER had long healthy hair... you can!!!

Good point. A lot of people are probably ashamed to show anyone their "starting pictures" because they think they're so bad.

I'm not BSL yet, maybe the next relaxer. I should be there now but I had to cut a lot of the ends b/c I had a fair bit of breakage in the crown.

BULLSH*T record being at 9... if you ask her she'll tell you.

She took me into the bathroom and locked the door because she was sneaking to do it before my dad came looking for us.

She said that my hair was BEEDED up too bad and I had a bald spot that made it look even worse... so she did what she did.

So I am 20 years old and have being perming for approx. 19 and 1/2 years... and don't plan on stopping anytime soon because at 8 weeks post I start going crazy

For flat ironing, I use a tiny amount of Design Essentials Reflections Liquid Mist. I
only flat iron myself when I can take my time and concentrate on each session of consisting of about two good irons and another time using the comb. I thinka lot of people rush when flat ironing whcih is why it doesn't come out looking that much of a difference. "Its principle..............PRINCIPALITY!!!!"

I should be at BSL by now but my mind was on other things. I'm back now. If I can get a hold to a scanner I will post a pick of my in 9th grade. Can you say chicken head. It was horrible.

Oooo...please don't talk about 9th grade. You know those tiny foam rollers...the smallest ones? That's the largest rollers I could use the night before I took my 9th grade pictures. I don't wanna talk about it..........

Longhairluva - your hair is gorgeous. SOrry about the setbacks but you are still workin it! I had my chicken head days too. My moms didn't know what to do with my dizzam hair. lolol
