Why do people call it texlaxing? it's relaxing!!

Dang, y'all still arguing about this? Personally, I don't give a hot damn what term someone else uses to describe their hair. I don't care if they call it: relaxed, texlaxed, $#*&laxed. What was the point of this thread anyway?

Posting questions w/o posting the history behind the rationale of why we ask anything on the internet = free speech + public domain.

ok so what's the difference between a texturizer and texlexing. y don't they just do the texturizer thing. is it supposed to be milder? I mean texlexing wouldn't u risk messing up and going bone straight

Here's the true difference between texturizing and textlaxing:

Texturizer: In the salon, name brand relaxer is used for texturizers; when done on short hair, the hair is left with an even, type 3-like curl pattern.
Before Textlaxing even came to be, it was known that texturizing could not be done on long hair because the desired curl pattern result could not be reached evenly.

Textlaxing: Hair is too long to produce curly outcome promised by texturizing, but bonestraight hair is not desired either; therefore loosening the curl just a little is the happy medium; not too straight, not too nappy.

I don't see why some people are getting uptight about the op's question. Geez! Maybe the question should have went in the dumb question thread. Maybe most of the responses would have been different. Idk.

The responses would have been different if she had said "I honestly would like clarification on why people call themselves texlaxed when they are just relaxing. Is it just because they are going from natural to relaxing and just don't want to claim it? I know some might get upset at the question, but that's fine."

Texturizing, Relaxing and Texlaxing are all the same. If you put a chemical on your hair you are not natural. It's as simple as that. People who texlax are not trying to make it seem like they don't relax (and as a result are natural) That's not the case at all. It's just a more specific term here on the hair boards meaning to not relax all of the natural curl/texture in the hair. That's all. They're not trying to fool anybody.

My posts say relaxing and texlaxing so people know it's the same chemical process. "Texlaxing" is for clarity on this hair board, since it means not relaxed bone straight, leaving some natural texture in the hair. People at LHCF are learning about hair care and texlaxing is another option. Some texlax by relaxing 5 to 10 minutes while other texlax by adding oils or other products to the relaxer. Texlaxing produces different results on the hair than standard relaxing.

I don't think that the problem is to be relaxed or not . I think that people use the term texlax or texturise to describe the result of the application of the product ( relaxer or texturiser) , I didn't read here that when you texlax or texturise you are natural ....
Please don't be angry some people want to have advice it's one of the purpose of the forum .

I think people ask the question whether to relax or texlax because they want advice on how versitile they can be with certain hairstyles, care, products, etc. Though chemicals are added, the processing time is what can take a person from highly textured (texlaxed) to barely any texture at all (bone straight). Folks just want guidance, 'tis all.

If you get irrated with those posts, by pass those bad boys. Questions like that are going to be in heavy rotation on a popular hairboard like LHCF with newbies joining every 6 second. Don't let it get you all riled up and then risk getting banned over inciting a riot.

Well, I made one of those threads yesterday pretty much right before you made this thread so hopefully my thread didn't annoy you. I think that some of us really are torn between two worlds when it comes to our hair. But I do understand that when you are here for a while the redundant threads can make you do this

Now...Silkening...I don't like that one. I think that it is intended to lure people into thinking that they are getting a non chemical treatment.
It gives the impression that the hair will be wrapped in or coated with Silk or fairies will come sprinkle sparkling silky dust on your hair and make it silky.
