Why do people call it texlaxing? it's relaxing!!

Me, too, but I didn't realize that I was confused until I read this thread. Lord, I just started "texlaxing" when my hair idol described her technique. I didn't know I was in denial of my "natural-ness" or fronting . This thread is for entertainment purposes only!

This thread has me cracking up. All can I say is it really kills me when people say "i'm going to get a texlaxer". That one really cracks me up. What is a texlaxer?

To answer the op texlaxing, relaxing is all the same thing. Most people understand that, some people don't. It was a term made up by JenniferMD to describe the texture of her hair since she could never get it bone straight. Since then I guess people went crazy with it on the hairboards and it has taken on new meaning(s).

ok so what's the difference between a texturizer and texlexing. y don't they just do the texturizer thing. is it supposed to be milder? I mean texlexing wouldn't u risk messing up and going bone straight

I have seen this question asked time and time again since before I joined. The way I personally look at it is that a texlaxer uses a relaxer (a product that will actually have the word "relaxer") so she will easily say she texlax instead of texturize, and a person who uses a product that actually says "texturizer" (for example: S-curl texturizer [i think they make a texturizer]) may say she texturizes instead of saying she texlaxes. But both are relaxer treatments: they leave some or most of the curl pattern LOL well that's how I break it down for me

to the op... texlax... is not relaxing bone straight or close to it. Yes the ladies could call it texturizing (which too is essentially relaxing) but they don't... it's still a chemical and they're not claiming natural... now why are you so interested in what women choose to call their hair? It's clear when these ladies state "texlax" that they're not natural... whats ur beef?

Is it just because they are going from natural to relaxing and just don't want to claim it? I know some might get upset at the question, but that's fine."

I texlax/texturize. I use both terms because I think they mean the same thing. If I described myself as simply "relaxed" people would not understand the particular styling and washing techniques that come with having highly textured, relaxed hair.

OP, I dont know what your issue is with how we texlaxers describe our hair, but you need to get over it.

Are we seriously inventing new terminology? So umm since being a true natural means putting no chemicals AT ALL in the hair, what do you call a permanent color? Colorlaxed? I don't know someone educate me.

I *may* be wrong, but I think it's the same thing. Just like a "Just for me" relaxer may fool others into thinking it's milder but it's actually just a SMALLER amount of relaxer packaged in a cute box with a lil' black girl smiling on it!

It never bothered me. I don't get the feeling that someone is trying to deny they are relaxed just because they choose the term 'texlax'. There is no way to deny being relaxed if u r. They don't leave it on long which loosens the texture. I on the other hand relax bone 'straight'

I texturized with a regular ol' relaxer. Never thought to pick up an actual texturizer since they are both the same thing and the woman whose relaxing technique I used did it with a relaxer. Thinking about it now I have no idea why we don't just grab the texturizer.

a texturizer only softens ur hair:

Its not something you can go out and buy: Duh: its a technique...

BONELAXING & TEXLAXING are techniques you can do w/ a Relaxer:

Like natural hair: you can shingle, twist, etc: its all curling

i don't really see the problem, i think texlaxing or texturizing are more accurate to describe the technique and the look people are trying to acheive.
