Who's book made the statement that african textured hair grows faster when kept in a semi-straight state? I think the guy had a natural hair salon where he advocated straightening natural hair for maximal growth. I want to read up on this.

Thanks

Personally, I don't know that author or the book in question, but as someone who has had natural hair, texturized and previously bone straight relaxed hair, I would say his hypotheses is correct. My texturized hair is now armpit length (longest it's ever grown) and although it can look a little dry if I don't take care of it, it thrives a lot better semi-straight as opposed to the other two states I've had....

When you find that book would you kindly let me know because I would like to read it too.

Sure....I'll let you know if I find it.

This has been my experience too. I have 4b all natural hair and I noticed that my hair has grown faster the last 6 months when keeping it cornrowed, twisted, ponytailed, which keeps my hair from completely kinkin up than the first year when I only got about 2 or 3 inches of growth from just wash and go's (allowing it to kink up fully).

It makes sense to me.

And I am still waiting for an answer re: the pictures and if any of these women show waistlength and beyond hair as a result of using Mr. John's methods. Does anyone have the book? Bonjour

Thanks Diamoness. So I see he doesn't advocate chemicals....that would definitely rule me out then....I'll get the book anyhow...
