I'm a trimming junkie now.. i just love fresh cut ends! If you need a trim i would especially suggest planning them around lunar dates, it can't hurt!

From Moon Time by Paungger & Poppe

If the hair is cut when the moon is in Virgo, the cut and style will last longer; avoid washing and cutting during Pisces and Cancer days (doesnt say why); Burdock root, stinging nettles, and birch water are recommended for making healthy hair tonics.

Has anyone come up with a maintenence plan yet. I have been on the internet doing research to see if there's anymore good information, but haven't found a lot yet. I think I may search a little more tonight, and get to working on a maintenence plan tomorrow.

Which day would be good for a touch-up? The chart at longhairlovers suggests that Leo and Taurus are good moons for colouring, permiing and straightening. However the maintenence plan suggests that the Cancer, Scorpio and possibly the Pices Moon would be good for such things.

Anyone else have any input on this one? I'm due for a touch-up soon, and would like to do it according to the moon.

Thanks for the links. I really like the first one!

Let us know what you find pu. If you have any good reference books, could you list a few titles for us, please. I'm always looking to add to my collection. I'm interested in the Metaphysics too!

Everyone:

Is there anything about days to wash ... so far this seems to be optional... I mean when ever you want to do it. However, the Virgo Moon seems to be the time to Clarify.

Thank you Ballet Bun, this is so interesting. You're going to get a lot of us on this board doing our hair by the moon cycles!

I'm interested, but I don't trim or chemically treat my hair. I'd still like to learn about lunar cycles. Thanks, you guys, for starting this thread and posting those links!

I just thought this might be a useful link. I have just joined, but I haven't read any of the posts yet. I believe it's based on the authors book listed on longhairlovers.com ..."New Moon Astrology" from Jan Spiller. I ordered the book, but will take 4 good ol' weeks to make it to the Pile Of Rocks here ... lol!

Anyone do anything with their hair yesterday? It was the New Moon. I was out of town and forgot all about it!

I didn't, but I have Llewelyns(sp??) 2003 Moon Book. I did my relaxer according to the dates they recommended. I will be experimenting with this until July 16th.

Hi Ballet Bun !

I've recently become interested in using the lunar cycle for growing my hair also. I'm going to try it and see if I get any results and report back. Please report back with your results too. I'd love to hear if it worked out for you.

I forgot tonight is the full moon do we need to cut or shampoo? please help. Maybe I need to relax and remember change doesn't happen overnight. I just need some kind of evidence that what i'm doing is on the right path. So does anyway follow the moon schedule

Ballet Bun , the lunar cycle are working well for me. I have noted a difference in my skin. I do not follow the hair tips to a T, but i try to always use the lunar dates for trimming and relaxer applications(when i was relaxing)

Ballet bun,
I was going to get my hair touched up and trimmed on the first and changed my appointment to the 8th to comply with the chart I saw. I'm willing to try this for a while to see what happens.
Take care,
G

-- I'm glad to hear that it's working for you. I plan on sticking with this too for awhile. I plan to try this for at least a full year.

Isis
-- I meant to get the Kerastase Dermo-Calm Collection:Bain Riche Haute Tolérance
Hair Bath for sensitive or stressed scalps and dry hair. AND ... Baume Hydra-Calmant
Nourishing Care for sensitive or stressed scalps and dry hair. AND Noctocalm
The first soothing night serum for sensitive scalps ...

My scalp is reacting horribly to the change in the weather. So I was goingt o get those two things and treat my scalp, but I forgot to get it on Saturday. I will try to get it tomorrow. The energy of the New Moon is around for a couple of days isn't it .... wishful thinking!

Yes Ballet Bun, I read somewhere that the energy of the New Moon actually lasts about 14 days but the most powerful influences are on the New Moon and 2 days after.

Well, yesterday was the Full Moon and today and tomorrow we'll still have its influences. I washed and deep conditioned my hair yesterday. Anyone still using the lunar cycles?

I use lunar cycles. I cut or trim my hair only when the moon is waxing, to encourage growth.

I'm still using the lunar cycles. I have not limited it to trims. I am also using the lunar cycles for relaxers too. I have the 2004 Llwellyn(sp??) Lunar Book. It's really nice!

I usually use it for trims and relaxers, except for the last relaxer. My hair came out good though. I wonder if it coincided with the lunar schedule.

Which source are you using for Lunar Haircare ... as far as when you decide to do your touch-ups?

Re:Update: Who Uses The Lunar Cycles For Haircare?

This is the information in the book that I am using. For those who are doing this, or who are good at astrology, I have a question for you. February 4th seems to be good astologically (in a lunar way + ...), but Mars in in opposition, but Venus is trine, the moon is in Leo and the moon is waxing. The next possibility would be February 24th, whne the moon is in Taurus, the moon is waxing in the 1st quarter, and it is favourable to my sun sign too.

Any thoughts on which day would be best. Nothing is listed about my Sun Sign one way or the other for February 4th.

"Llewllyn's 2004 Moon Sign Book - 99th Annual Edition":

Permanents, straightening and hair colouring will take well if the Moon is in Taurus or Leo and trine or sextile Venus. Avoid hair treatments if Mars is marked as square or in opposition, especially if heat is to be used. For permanents, a trine to Jupiter is helpful. The Moon should be in the first quesrter, and check the lunar cycle for a favourable day in relation to your sun sign."
