Hiya

I am gong to need gel to do my buns, as my hai is natural 3c/4a I will need to put it on the front of my hair as not all my hair goes into the bun. I will be adding fake hair too...

Anywho what kind of gel do you all use? and why?

Are there any natural alternatives that give good hold? I dont want rock hard hair but just something that will keep the hair down...

Thanks!!

I'm not natural but dd is and she likes the Pro-Styl brown gel (see avi pic)...I tried to get her to use the IC Fantasia with the sparklelites that ladies here seem to like but she prefers the Pro-Styl right now.

Good luck to you!

I used LongAid curl activator gel. It doesn't dry hard and it lays my hair down quite nicely. :yep:

I use the IC gel with sparklites. I absolutely love it. It doesn't leave flakes or make your hair hard. When I started bunning, I used the gel to give me a slicked down look, and I used fake hair to wrap around my bun. You can check out my fotki for pics. It's in the protective styling 08 album, and I have one in the sensational install album too.

ETA: I'm transitioning.

I second the IC Fantasia with sparkle lites. No alcohol, great hold, never drying.

Girl im there lol

im not a gel user at all but i do use aveda humectant pomade that has great ingr. and lays my hair down and keeps it moisturized.

I like IC Fantasia Gel (the green olive oil kind) it works great and doesn't dry out my hair. I usually add a little culr wax or grease (yes grease) to it when I am slicking my hair down or else my hair curls up too much.

I use the Fantasia IC Gel with olive oil when I put my hair up in a ponytail, but I notice that if I use it too much my hair tends to dry up. I also use aloe vera gel when my wear my hair down because it doesn't give it a crunchy feeling. I just started using Eco Styler and it gets rid of the frizzies in the front, leaves my hair soft.

I agree. I use LongAid curl gel too. Except I get the 32 oz tub and mix in 2 sticks of melted cocoa butter and it takes on more of a pomade consistency and feel. My hair lays down and is pretty moisturized all the way to the end of the day
