I've admitted it. After two years of LHCF (shamefully, so) ..I still ain't got it! I don't know what I'm doing wrong, but when I take of my own hair, regardless of how conscious and careful I am, my hair never thrives. So, I'm retreated back to my old faithfuls - kinky twist. After wearing a few sets, I'll just have to go to a salon. *sighs*

I use to believe my hair had to be done by professional every week sometimes twice in a week.

Luckily, I was in between my blessing discovered manufacture testing salons.

I go to Keracare or Organic Root Stimulator to get my hair relaxed. Sometimes will allow blow-dry special occasion.

I co-wash and air-dry hair based on techniques learned from LHCF members.

well i used to cut/trim my own hair when it was a blunt or U-shaped cut. but i had to visit a stylist to get layers. thankfully she was a godsend. so i figure it's worth a few $$$ to see her 2x a year for trims.

Me........

I have to go when I want my hair straightened.......it's too much work and I love the results.

unfortunately....add me to this list too. :ohwell:

i just cannot get my hair flat-ironed as straight as they do at the salon. plus my stylist makes the cutest "styles" (with the curling iron.) i'm NOT talented when it comes to doing my own hair. i WISH i could cut my own hair, but i can't get all the layers in the back and i'm always scared that i'm giving myself split ends when i try to cut it (from some rumor or myth i heard.)

and to add insult to injury...now i have highlights, so i have to go to them for if i want to keep up the color.

...so yes, i just HAVE to get professional hair care & styling. i shamefully admit it.

I refuse to self-texlax. I just won't and I'm OK with it. Otherwise, I take care of my hair in between. When I get a trim she does that too.

Hey Blackmaven, where are Keracare and Organic Root test salons? This is a new one to me.

This was my epiphany.. I realized that no matter how much care I can not obtain length alone. This year has been a joke in regards to retaining length and I'm convinced that if I were seeing a stylist on a regular basis (that understands my goals and beliefs on hair care) that I would have gained at least 5 inches by now.

I tried to do it on my own and failed miserably. I guess I need more time at this.

I can't do a self-relaxer -- even more now that I live somewhere with separate faucets* and I'm still trying to work out how to shampoo my hair with warm water.

*Separate faucets - one tap that produces only hot and another that produces only cold, you cannot get warm.

As for me, i used to go to my stylist just for a touchup and a trim. But now i only go for my touchups because she was just to scissors happy for me. But i vowed to myself next year i will learn to do these things myself, i feel my hair will benefit enormously.

I only go for relaxers and trims/cuts. I'd actually trim myself and have, but I'm scared to self relax! I do everything else myself though.
