I got "influenced," You guys! After watching this video, I fiiiiiinnnaaaalllly purchased The Doux Block Party gel.

20260419_152510.jpg

And my AliExpress order came in. I had ordered 3 of the brushes and 2 of the diffuser attachments. They were EXTREMELY inexpensive.

I may have applied too much gel, because the gel is advertised as drying quickly, and it took foreeeeevah for it to dry. I diffused for an hour and sat up for any extra hour and no dice: Still damp. Craaaaaaazyyyyyyyyy!

Note: The gel was not as tacky for me as it appeared in the video above.

I could not detangle AT ALL with the brush, but as far as fully distributing the gel and clumping and dividing my coils? Yeeeeeessssss!!! That brush was the styling business on my hair. I got compliments today!

The diffuser attachment seemed to keep my hair and scalp from getting too hot. It might have helped reduce frizz and fly aways, I'm not sure because it might have been the gel that did that.

That gel, though!!!!!!! It's giving Ecoslay level hold! And no flaking! And no need to refrigerate. And it's in a jar. And available on the ground. And black-woman-owned (like Ecoslay).

While it DID take a while longer to style my hair with gel versus mousse, I don't think I'm gonna mind. I think I'm gonna save a ton of time NOT REFRESHING this wash-and-go. And the hard-to-get-hold interior of my hair is gelled and elongated and all that.

This might be my HG!!!

A few notes:

I used a heat protectant. Even though i use my dryer on the lowest setting, I want extra protection.
I don't use a diffuser to dry my WAG but if I did, I would want a heat protectant too. I use mousse as one of my styling products, all but one has heat protectant in it. The ones with heat protectant are CRN spiked honey(I would only use for roller sets now, too sticky for my WAG), The Doux Mousse Def and Crazy Sexy Curl, the one without heat protectant is the Miche gel to foam.
i only used a small amount of leave in to coat the hair followed by a light amount of miche gel and then slathered on the curl activator and xiomara gel. Then I sprayed with water. this got me some juicy curls.
Definitely a winning combination for you, those results are awesome. :)
I diffused with my new airlight pro dryer and my hair just felt supple but still extreme hold.
How doesthe Airlight Pro compare to your previous blow dryer? I still haven't tried mine out yet, I've been trying to get the comb attachment, it's been more than a challenge, but I'm still persevering.
the curl activator is needed for these products to work together. i tried just using gel last week and had a hot flakey mess.
I think I misunderstood your post last week, I thought it was because you used the curl activator it dried white and flaked.
Also the golden haze miche gel works better than the original but i dont know why. I will be stockpiling it next time it comes out.
Wash day was long but worth it if i only need to repeat every 2 weeks. Lets see how long this lasts!
I don't know why but I don't feel like the Miche anti humidity gel works for me, it doesn't matter how much or how little product I use, how much water I add, how soaking wet my hair is, it just doesn't work the way they market it for me.

This gel only works with other products layered on top and or under it. Considering the price, I can't see myself repurchasing. It's a shame because I loved the concept.

I wonder what is different about their golden haze gel compared to the regular one? I'm glad it's working well for you and that you only need a little of it to make your WAG work, it helps justify the cost.

I do love The Doux  I haven't tried this one yet, it can go on my list as I have multiple products to use for WAG and don't want to buy anything until a few things finishes. The Big Poppa gel is my favourite so far.

I'm glad you managed to get the brushes! ❤️

Thanks for the heads up, I will make a mental note for when I do try it.

Love that! it's a shame they didn't work out for detangling for you, I still haven't tried it for either detangling or defining yet.

That diffuser reminds me of the Airlight Pro diffuser, so there maybe something in what you're saying about the frizz.

I'll be watching how you get on with this one very closely. I truly feel like The Doux could be a potential one brand for everything for me, I've liked all their products I've tried to date, there's so many, I want to try the Press Play silk press system too. I can see myself using only their products once I've finished trying out all the products on my list.

I buy gels on sale only but it’s still expensive.

I’m still working with the dryer. I didn’t download the app but it is more advanced than any other dryer I’ve owned. I will play around with it when I have some free time.

Crème of nature honey curl activator doesn’t mix well with the Miche gel but the Xiomara gel helps everything mix together. Although last week ( I forgot to post pics) I used the tropical oasis and no curl activator last week and it flaked so bad!

Also soaking wet hair applications do not work for me. I prefer applying products on damp hair and spraying on water in the end.

Pretty! Your coils are shiny!

That's so interesting about the Miche gel! Glad you made that hard-to-know discovery.

We're vibing: I did my hair last night and want to test how long it lasts. I'll update the thread with my experience.
Maybe my tropical oasis gel is too old. The gel was kind of chunky vs the smooth texture of the freshly opened gel

Yes it does seem very technical for hair dryer, I am looking forward to looking into it, if I'm honest, it's unlikely that I'll even bother to programme the dryer with the app, I won't even use it much, it was the drying technology that made me buy it.

That's the one I have.

I would say the same for myself, and adding more water or applying on soaking wet hair did nothing for me.

I also want to mention I’ve been using one of bounce curls newest brushes. I have the dense one. I really like it. It makes my curls look cohesive albeit give a lot of shrinkage. I like the shrunken look because it looks more healthy looking

That's the first gel I intend to use up when I start my WAGs again, it's my oldest gel, it should be okay hopefully. I find gels can do this over time, it's like the consistency thickens up. I find this moreso the case if I forget to close the lid. It's like it evaporates a little but thickens up and the texture becomes gunky.

I'm just waiting for it to get a little warmer, it'll probably be somewhere after the middle of May a couple of weeks after I straighten my hair.

I'd have to see the brush, I wouldn't know off hand which one that was, they have so many brushes. I only ever purchased a Bounce dupe, it did the job, there was more shrinkage with that brush but I just prefer some of my other brushes for definition. It was the green one I have.

Her hair looks unhealthy to me but I’m glad you like it. It wasn’t on my radar but I’m intrigued!

Okay, this is like the one @Yvette 2.0 posted that sent me down the curl brush rabbit hole. I really want to try the Unbrush version of this. They make it so difficult for us to get stuff over here, it's beyond annoying, considering the type of world we are living in, it shouldn't be this hard to get a detangling brush or an attachment comb.

Oh, I am not a fan nor a disliker of her or her twin sister's hair nor their hair practices. I was only influenced by how long her wash-and-go lasted. I don't watch too many of their videos because the products they love typically are ones I strongly dislike or feel meh about. Lol.

I've only watched a couple of their videos, I was literally only interested in the same as you and skipped some of the video. It was all about the product

Today's wash day, I ended up layering stylers:
The Doux Crazy Sexy Curl Foam under Innersense I Create Hold under The Doux Block Party gel.

(I washed and detangled with the first 2 products in the pic: AG Curl Fresh and Derma E deep treatment.)

I sat under the hooded dryer and then used my hands to shape and stretch.

I love it. I can't keep my hands out of it.

Next time I'm gonna skip the Innersense gel and see what that does. I'd love to save money not purchasing it . . . though an Instagramer has influenced me to try I Create Memory (she says the hold is higher!?!!).

@Yvette 2.0 Have you tried the Innersense I Create definition styling foam? I've just received 15% off their products but I'd like to buy the travel size gel and from, or the travel size foam woth the curl trio ( travel sized I creat hold, I creat volume and calm curl control) I have their detox and hydrating masks but I've not used them yet. I'd have preferred the trio to have the I Create Definition instead of volume, which isn't something I looked for. I could just buy the 3 that I want to try and leave the curl set.

Yes, and I didn't get good results with it at all, but it might have been user error.

I've been mulling it over and I've decided against purchasing any curl products at this time, but I intend to get that Doux gel in the video I posted. I want to focus on using up what I have already opened, in which case I won't need lots of new stuff. I might also purchase the Living Proof curl enhancing conditioner, so I may just pick up the conditioner. I'm thinking about using curly hair and frizz fighting shampoo and conditioners during WAG season. It's also unlikely that I will open any of the Sof N Free products this year either.

To be honest, the gel is the main product that I'm interested in, it was because they were selling it as a curl system in the set, and also the 15% off that piqued my interest in the other products. I don't feel as curious about them, but I will say that I'm sceptical about a lot of curl definition products, I need them to be frizz free or anti humidity.
