Ohh Kathy May, I'd love to see your sengalese twist. I wanted these but I got kinky 2 strand twist instead.

I will take pictures this weekend. I have had the kinky twists they are easy to keep up with.

How are you ladies taking care of your braids? I am wearing braids myself.

Since my twists are fresh I am not using Surge until next month. Right now I am spraying my hair with Dark and Lovely Citrud Braid and Sheen and S-Curl. Once a week I use Hot Six Oil. I will wash my hair next month I am not sure whether or not to VO5 when I am washing my hair if do I will mix it with water so I won't have any heavy build up in my hair.

Sooo many different braid challenges. I just started braiding my own hair Jan 2, Sunday. I have yet to finish with the numerous distractions from baby, but it's all good. Pics of progress in the LHCF photo gallery.

I would love to be able to braid my own hair. Right now though, it took me over 2 days to do individuals on someone else. I know I definitely need a braiding video of some sort to teach me technique.

I have those same individuals in my hair and I'm ready to get them the heck out. Does anyone use any special products or techniques to take their braids out?

I am in braids right now and will take it out in 1 1/2 -2 months...Then let my hair breath for awhile about 1 week then perm on week 2.....week 4 I will be back in braids or weave. This will last until the end of the year....hopefully.

I learned by watching Robin's video from www.growafrohairlong.com. As far as removal goes, the key is to make sure that you aren't using heavy products that will cause buildup.. especially around the fragile hairline and at the base of the braids. I spray the entire shaft with Better Braids UnBraid Spray, concentrating on the base, then work my way up the strand unloosing the hair. It there is any debris at the base, I work it back and forth between my fingers, being sure that it's saturated with the UnBraid spray and then it all comes loose. I do this to my entire head and make sure it's done at a time that I have patience to undertake the job.

Got Braids? Yep!! Tree braids! Been wearing them off and on since April 2004. Right now, they're tree braids, which I had put in 12/28/04. I have these redone every 5 weeks or so, this is me until the end of the year!

I'm natural, and noticed that my hair was not moving past a certain point. so, i just braided my natural hair in small box braids and started my own moisturizing technique. I will keep the braids in for as long as possible (prob. for the next 3 months) with the constant moisture and vitamins.

OT: has anyone ever used Aubrey Organics - Mandarin Magic Ginkgo Leaf & Ginseng Root Hair Moisturizing Jelly

Thanks Diva for posting the braid spray, I couldn't remember the name of it =)

Update... This time, I didn't use any product and it took over a 2-day period to get them out! I couldn't be happier now that they're finally out. I'll definitely get slightly bigger braids nexttime (if still possible to put in a pony) and get that spray =) I have such visible growth (visibly 1", after trimming) that I think I'll get my braids done again next weekend if possible!

* My goal is to out-grow my 2-3" of damaged hair.
