Who did this? Transitioned or big chopped...

I've never worn a weave so I transitioned without weave, did the BC, and let it grow without braids or extensions.

Me...I think a lot of us did. I got kinky twists for a couple weeks, but other than the two weeks, just me just wearing my own hair pulled back in a bun or braid out. :D Then I chopped.

I wear my own hair now since the BC as well.

Like AlwayzL8 I never had a weave before, but I did transition. IIRC I wore braid extensions a couple of times and wore my own hair in canerows most of the time until I had about 5-6 inches of new growth, then on a whim I cut the relaxed ends off myself and have not looked back :)

I only "transitioned" for four weeks. So I was not even thinking about growing out my hair. I just changed my mind about getting a relaxer and did not want to bother with the two textures. :yep: I was wearing Curlformers roller sets.

My hair was in braids almost the entire time, but I did go 7 months without them and got another significant cut (SL to NL). I've never had a wig or a weave before, but I do like braids with extensions. I felt like my hair was protected and I didn't have to spend as much money on hair products!

I transitioned for years with no weave and no braids. I never really did a "big chop." I just kept getting a rollerwrap and flat ironing the roots. I finally got all the relaxed ends cut off, but my hair was always long.

No that I'm all natural, I still rollerwrap and flat iron. I just have to flat iron the whole head of hair now. :yep:

The first time I did a bc and grew my hair out without extensions. Second time around I knew I didn't want short hair (my hair had to be cut because I had extreme breakage) so I went online to find out about weaves cause I had never had one before. That's how I found hair boards so thank goodness for that weave!

I did for about 6 months. Lots of S-curl and detangling only with conditioner under running water. Never worn a weave.

I am 43 weeks post and I haven't used wigs or weaves just styling my own hair.

I have never had a weave and don't plan on getting one.

I've never had a weave. This thread is very encouraging however, because I was getting the feeling that the only way to get your hair to grow is to weave or do braids or wigs.

I tried cornrow extensions for about 2 days. Thought they were too tight and took them out.

I was just considering a weave for the Christmas break, but my dad reminded me what happened with the braids. lol

I'm only 9 weeks post at the moment and plan on doing this. I've never worn weave or extensions in my adult life and teenage and i really don't want to, but i just have to see how it goes.

me. transitioned without a weave, BC'ed, and now growing my TWA into a BAA weave-less.
Just trying to learn to do styles like twists, flat-twists, etc.

I transitioned for 61/2 months without braids or weaves only twistouts and WNG's. I BC 'd about 3 weeks ago and am rocking my TWA. No plans for braids or weave ever.

Me...twice. My first transition I wore braid outs, buns, and cornrows all with my real hair. This last time I just wore a ponytail or bun. God forbid, but if I for some mysterious reason mess up my head with a relaxer again, I'm taking shears to it lol.

Never had a weave. Don't plan to ever since I'm on a budget!
I transitioned for 5 months with twist outs and bantu knots.
Then I got sick of two textures and did the BC a few weeks ago.
My personal blog details my liberating experience!!!

What's a BAA?
I'm rocking a TWA and loving me some S-Curl.
