I don't believe that either.

How bout I've heard that before. Most conditoners are detanglers and they do just that and they are not design to be anymore effective if you let it sit for 1 hour versus the 1 - 10 mins regular conditioners allow. I took there word for it and tried unless its a deep coditioner and it says 20 mins. My hair has been great.

Heat just makes it go faster. I learned from a very quality professional a while back that after 7 minutes under the dryer, the conditioner has done all that it is going to do and leaving it on longer won't make a difference.

Karezone,

Once I heard that I had the same idea as you. Sometimes I'll stay under for 10 minutes but just because I'm rounding up

Supergirl, great heads think alike. I to round my 7 minute deep condition up to an even ten; the very thought of using an odd number is

Jeez, you mean to tell me that I'm wasting my time sitting under my heating cap for 30-40 mins. at a time??? Wow...

Last nite I tried Peachtree's heated conditioner method w/ a plastic cap while I took my shower...the results were just as good as 20-30 under my hooded dryer....no better (less time)

Yeah MoezThunder,

Peachtree's idea about the heated conditioner seems great!!I'll definitely try it when I don't have time to do the heat cap thing!!

(I'm not ready to give up on that yet!! I still think the heat and extended time helps the conditioner to penetrate more...)

Well, if I could have been saving time all of this time...

Next time I wash my hair, I'll test it out and see what happens.

I can believe this, I've also heard that once the conditioner has done its job, leaving it on longer makes no major difference. I generally follow the instructions, but if I want deep conditioning, I definitely don't leave it for longer than 30 minutes.

I've only sat under a dryer for 10 minutes. I used to do 20 via Cathy Howse method, but I felt my hair was okay and bumped it down to ten. Besides, I just don't like sitting under the dryer that long.

I don't mind sitting under the dryer thanks to the member who suggested the hair dryer on the ironing board, while hanging out with you guys on this board!

My cousin is going to kill me when she finds this out last week I made her sit under the dryer for 30 minutes.

Karezone,I'm glad that you posted this. I was considering leaving my conditioners on longer, but if the maximum benefits are achieved in about 10 minutes, I might just save some time and not leave them on longer than the directions indicate.
p.s. That picture/avatar thingy under your screen name looks very close to a cartoon version of me, glasses and all !

Will somebody please explain this method or let me know where I can find it described? TIA

oh , my! this is so odd....you see, my hair dressers (no matter who they were-spanish or black) used to always set the timer for only 10 or 15 minutes. i would turn it to 30 or 35 b/c i thought they were trying to cheat me and save money on the energy bill. could it be they were hip to the-conditioner does its work in 7 minutes
