More advice is needed for a newbie. Is it OK to leave conditioner on longer than the recommended time? The PJ in me was inspired to try the Joico Kpak Intense Hydrator. The bottle says to leave it in for 3-5 minutes, but I kinda want to use it as a deep condition by sitting under the hood dryer for at least 15 minutes. Is this OK for your hair?

It should be fine. To test the result, use for 15 minutes without heat. If you like the result, try again the next time you DC with the heat. I believe it can depend on the condition of your strands prior to application as well. I always go longer than the instructions indicate. Go for it!

This is true; if your hair is in good condition already, using the conditioner for longer may make your hair unmanageable because too soft. Otherwise, by all means leave it on.
