I read one post where the mom said her daughter loves Rudy from the Cosby Show and she wants to try Rudy-inspired hairstyles on her daughter. I just think it's great how they're doing research, figuring out what works and what's healthy for their children's hair.

Wow, that blog was a real pleasure to read! That mom has obviously invested a lot of time as well as tender loving care into finding out how to properly take care of those precious little girls' hair. And they are VERY adorable!!! :)

What beautiful babies!:D Kudos to this mom for doing her research and making healthy haircare a priority. She did a great job with these hairstyles! She gave me ideas on things to try out on my SO's daughters.

Thanks for sharing that, enjoyed it. Great read.

* if I could just get a hold of 'dem cheeks!*

Those little girls are so Blessed to have such a caring and resourceful Mom. Thanks for sharing that!

Its so sad.
Black women can't even get their children's hair under control and this white woman has us beat...tsk tsk.:lachen::lachen::lachen:
And why can't this woman help Brangelina with Zahara's hair?:perplexed:lachen::lachen::lachen:

Thanks for sharing that blog.:) I'm going to email a link to my sister who has a baby girl with a load of hair.

I love those simple and sweet styles for her little girls. If I had a daughter I would want to put her hair in twists like those.

BNG, why’d you have to clown Zahara:D! You know that’s my girl! Brad and Angelina are nowhere as good as the lady with the blog, but at least they didn’t relax the baby’s hair like some mamas do.

I did NOT clowning Zathura, okay? Brangelina did when they put them two devil horns on top of her scalp!!! How are you friends with Oprah, Will and Jada, and the friggin' lady who MADE Carol's Daughter... but you got this child looking like who done did and ran???? WHHHHHHHY:whyme: Only thing the mother did wrong on these blogs is weaving the kids hair. Their hair is long enough to wear they can just have their own hair braided. I am starting to notice the adverse affects of putting weaves in children's hair... My sister tends to use her ponytail as a clutch or the only symbol of her beauty. She should get the kids hair braided; I mean, the braids will last if you was them and tie them up at night just like real hair.

awww, that was beautiful. i saw this thread title a few times and didn't click it because i thought it was going to be about a white mother who didn't know how to handle her child's hair. but, i'm so happy i clicked it, thanx!!!

The mom put weaves in the girl's hair. I didn't read that. I need to go back through.

I think Zahara's hair looks ok. She really doesn't have much hair to style really.

ETA: Oh, I skipped over an entire page. I see where she put in extensions.

Thanks for the clarification chocostudent. I saw it when I went back. I missed the 1st page. I would be really suprised if this mom went with a weave. She seems like she has done her homework.

I think there are worse things she could have done. It was a nice kiddie style and the kids got to mingle with some black women. It was nice that the mom sees that as important. That braider was the best. Works well with kids and cheap!

Well you can all see in my siggy what I looked like as a child with my white and scissor happy mother taking care of it
I wish I had long hair as a child, but my mother loved chopping it off all the darn time.

The little girl's hair is gorgeous!

I used to live in a state where the population was overwhelmingly white and the black children (some Africans who were brought into the U.S. by a charity organization) would be adopted by white parents who, apparently, had a lot of problems w/ black hair care. (Not always a mom - 1 of the main cities had a sizeable gay population.) I saw more than a few black girls of various ages with their hair in boy cuts (to avoid the perceived problem I guess). A resource like this would have been very helpful to those parents who were willing to use it.

I used to think about how damaged the psyche of those little girls would be, since they were already "outsiders" by virtue of the fact that their skin was different, they were adopted, and now they had hair so "bad" that it had to be cut off.

Good read. I'm happy to see that people are truly trying to understand black hair for their new mixed families.

I love this article because she took the time to nurture the girls hair. My aunt-in-law made my nieces wear afro's instead of braids or relaxed hair like they wanted, because it was "natural".
