:yep: to the bolded when I run out of the oils I use for sealing...grease it is and I'm going back to the Blue Magic Organics Castor Oil brand. My mom used Royal Crown on my hair when I was a child though.

I like these grease a lot better than the hand-made ones (except Shescentit's Coriander & Fig - really love this one). It leaves my smelling and feeling so good and soft.

It's just that store bought commercial grease is a lot cheaper and they work really well for sealing - two good reasons to go back to them.

I tried this for 2 1/2 months. I was expecting 3 inches fast, but sadly no. I was let down. I don't think the original formula exits anymore.

I wouldn't mind the smell if it worked. I'll stink all day for longer hair. Seriously.

It was expensive too back then! :lachen: I kept my hair in a pixie the majority of my teen years, but I loved using this stuff after combing out my molded, or wrapped hair.
 
That Glovers, pink lotion, ultra sheen, blue magic and suffer 8 is what my mom used. Blue Magic and ultra sheen did double duty. She would be like "put some of this on your legs" lol after she finished combing my hair . Good times. I don't fool with the smell of glover's or sulfer 8 now though. Not even the attempts at non-scented.

Was it African Pride? I used that mostly in the 90's.

When I was a kid with all natural hair my mom used to use Blue Magic and sometimes TCB grease on my hair and scalp. Then the strong Dax pine tar grease to eliminate/stop breakage.

A girl I used to be friends with used to use Blue Magic as part of her wash and go styling. She would put it on after she put the gel in her hair.

I always thought it would be hard to wash all that out and it would be a greasy mess most days but she said it wasn't.

I guess it's no different from the YouTubers that put olive oil or some other oil on top of their wash and go to seal.

I used Black Dax religiously in high school. It smelled horrible because it was made with coal tar! I have no idea why I loved it so, lol.

I had WL hair until my older sister (she did my hair) moved out when I was 8. Then my mother wrecked my hair with Revlon Realistic SUPER Relaxers from age 9-13, and it hovered around my collarbone until I started taking care of it myself in 8th grade. So yeah, even a young teen could do better than my mother, smh.

It wasn't African Pride. It was in a clear jar and the grease was light green.

I could be getting this confused with other grease my mom used on my head.
Which was B&B, and Lady Hilda.

My hair was tbl as a child from these grease, and healthy hair care practices :yep:

Was it kuza indian hemp? My mom use to use that in my hair. The herbs in it made it seem natural and healthy.

TCB grease was life!

I think we used about all of those. That aluminum can makes me smile. Lol. I know it's corny but it takes me back. My mom did not know how to do hair so we were on our own. Cre me of nature shampoo. Bone straight to blowdry. Then pink oil and let's jam. God help us! I was bald headed but my sisters had hair. Lol

I'm in the minority but when I was learning to do my baby girl's hair pink moisturizer wasn't the devil. I keep it simple. And we survived. Lol. Folks today have a lot more options. They don't know the struggle.

Ay! I almost forgot about Black Dax! My mum loved that stuff on my scalp and hair. Agree with you 100% on the smell.
 
All I remember is pink lotion, and when I got older and we moved next door to a lady that tried to help me grow my hair, it was doo-gro and sulfur-8. Poor younger me :lol: I wish I could hug her and give her tips.
 
In elementary school, Royal Crown was used the most. By the time I was in middle and high school, it was Blue Magic. There might have been a few other random greases around including Vaseline but these two were what I recall the most. Neither did much for my hair's health or length and I do remember using the water and grease trick to "slick" my hair without the use of gel but I didn't do that often.
