I've never had any problems with braids w/extensions or half wigs so that's the route I would go if I were in CO...

I live in Fl and we're pretty seasonless down here, so I usually wet my hair twice a week and do buns or my Rosa...

I vote for wigs...preferably full cap and lace front cause all your hair is protected but half wigs are cool too. I have been wearing them for the past 2 or 3 months and I see a change in my hair already. I am about to dive into the lace front game here shortly...

I voted wigs, but I also cornrow/braid underneath. I need the extra warmth during the frigid months!!

I voted for braids. They keep me from messing with my hair and I usually ask the stylist to make them a little looser than she would normally. I don't get any stress on my scalp and lose very little hair.

I do make sure that I moisturize and deep condition them like crazy. Co-washing in braids is a must for me. I'm letting my hair breathe right now, but I'll be going back to braids with daily co-washes and scalp oiling soon!

I've done wigs off and on for about 12 years. I've had no problems with weak edges and I have fly hair all the time.

As others have stated, I can wash, con and moisturize to my hearts content while I grow me some hair!!!!!

Definitely wigs, I wear a full one so it covers my entire head and keeps it protected, and I can take it off at any time to wash...moisturize or let my hair breathe.

I voted braids. My hair thrives in them. I've never worn wigs or weaves, but I've seen them work for others.

I prefer braids/ twist only because (I'm not knocking anybody that does) but I don't believe in wigs and weaves/ extensions, I use what God gave me. Anyways as for regimen's I do my hair every 4-5 days, moisturize daily, weekly dc. And thats about it. It has worked for me since I've been natural.

I vote sew-in...I guess that would be considered "braids" because the hair is in cornrows.
But your hair can also be in cornrows under a wig.

I just like the option of cornrows b/c it forces me not to touch or manipulate my hair (and they're easy to wash and keep clean)

I vote braids.
I've been wearing wigs a lot lately (I love them and plan on finding 1-2 cute full lace wigs), but I don't feel or see that my hair has thrived as much as when I mostly wore individual braids.
As soon as halloween is over (my current individual braids won't work with my costumes, lol, so they'll only be in for 7 weeks) I'll be getting individual braids put back in until the end of winter.

Team wigs! I love my half wigs...and most ppl dont know the hair isnt real bcuz its so easy to blend my hair...I havent had any problems with them n Ive been doing it 4 a few months...

i voted braids/twist but without extensions. Also, I try to keep them at their full shrinkage. It kind of hides my hair in plain sight. It is easy to moisturize and keep up.

I sort of agree with LadyEsquire. It just seems like nowadays a lot of stylists want to tear your edges out by braiding too tight. :nono:
If you can find a braider who doesn't do that, stick with her!
I wore wigs for months after chopping my hair off. I believe the key is to continue to moisturize your hair under the wig, be sure to wear a wig cap, and to be gentle with the bobby pins.

I have bunning it since September 11...with one day of a cold blow dry and flat iron for a church service. Well, this past weekend I felt a little bored with my same bun and I went to look at lace front wigs and because I couldn't make up my mind which looked better, I decided on a human hair short ponytail for my weekend style.

I co-washed and baggy-ed my ends and slipped the ponytail over. It was so cute! I think I could do this for a minute longer. My hair seems stronger, so we'll see how long I rock the ponytail. At least now I have two protective styles to keep me busy for a minute.

I can't do braids - my hair grpws out of them in 2 weeks and it takes too long for that little bit of time.

I LOVE wigs.

So I guess I say buns, ponytails with a baggy underneath, and wigs.

I picked wigs cause its what I'm doing now, but I would love to have my hair braided too. I am 50/50 on the issue because i like to have my hair braided into cute individuals but wigs are easy on and easy off ancover hair completely so no bad elements get inside to bother it. I am on a wig wearing streak due to the cost efficiency of wigs for me.I think that both are great ways to protect because braids would keep my hands out my hair and if I have individual braids I can style them with out stressing my own hair too much. I say that if you are out to find a protctive style just list the pros and cons of each and pick the one which best meets your needs. My needs are for wigs righ tnow but when I move to NM I may be able to got to braids as a PS... just check your options and that should help you out.

I voted other, because me personally I continue to wear braidouts/twistouts during the winter months with no issues. But all of the choices you mentioned, including sew-ins are great ways to hide your hair. No one way is superior, you just have to choose what's best for you and which one you'll stick with.

i prefer not to do braids, so i'd go with wigs. but i'm sort of not into wearing additional hair right now. so i'd go with other. i wash 1x per week, and let it air dry and pin it up. no complaints so far. my buns look nicer each month as my hair gets longer, so soon enough i'll be able to do a BAB (big a-- bun) :D

Wigs are my favorite protective style. I like the diversity of changing up my look every few days, Also, being able to tend the hair underneath whenever I want.:spinning:

I voted other. I had braids once and i hated it. I have never had a weave and don't want one either. I like to be as natural as possible. If it aint mine i dont want it. LOL

I think buns and up do's as well as cornrows or two strand twists. Once the ends are protected.

for me, other. i don't really hide my hair in winter that way. i just do my regular styles (braids/ braid outs or twists/ twist outs without weave/extensions) and wear a hat or scarf over my head / hair when i'm outside in really cold weather.

I voted for wigs particuarly in the cold winter Va months. As metioned it is easy to care for my natural hair underneath it without alot of hassle. In the warmer weather I rock my own hair.

I voted Braids/Twists but I'm starting to believe that bunning is the best way because it hides your ends. Unless you braid and twist then bun. I have noticed since I started bunning that my hair has retained more length. Also there is less manipulation with a bun.

I think braids /twists are better. I have a stylist braid my hair but not tight b/c I am tender headed. I have tried half wigs and whole wigs but I get an headache when I wear them.

I put my hair in extension braids quite a bit but to be honest I had better results when I wore wigs for 2 years. I maintained most to all of the length I grew, had little to no split ends and was able to take better care of my hair overall. I like the braids because I can go swimming with them, sleep with them and not have to worry too much about styling, etc...
