Where are you ladies finding these cute hair accessories

I have been looking for hair accessories to jazz up my protective styles, updos, buns and what not. I can't seem to find anything worth my money.

I went to the mall into claires, forever 21, Charlotte Russe, and all the lil boutiques. I even stopped by sally's and walmart too!

I mean, of course i found some lil rinky-dink clips here and there but I coulnd't find anything that didnt look cheap. And the "cute" stuff was too small to hold my thick natural hair. Acutally some of the things I saw looked like it would rip my hair straight out :pullhair: with all the sharp edges, pointy teeth and other weapons of mass destruction attached to them.

So I figured I would ask you all where are u getting these adorable flowers, hair sticks, flexi 8's, and etc????? :help3:

I love hair accessories!

You know what's an interesting comparison? In our Product Exchange forum, most of the stuff being sold or swapped are products like shampoo, conditioner, leave-ins. On LHC (the mostly white version of LHCF), most of the swap stuff is accessories. I STAY stalking the swap forum over there and can never get anything good because those women will snatch it up quick, fast and in a hurry.

Okay, that said, what do you want? My favorite place for quality hair accessories is Etsy. They have a lot of handmade stuff that is much better than the cheap plastic stuff at Claire's (though I go there, too). Ebay's another one.

But for real, what do you want? Sticks? Forks? Barrettes? Headbands? Claws? Beaks? Flowers? Bobby Pins? What you need? :sekret:

I do an accessory post weekly on my blog for cute stuff from stores like Urban Outfitters to Forever 21. Often the truly cute, cheap and non-damaging stuff is online in these kinds of stores.

I made a flower ponytail holder on my own. Just hit up the arts and crafts section of Walmart or your local fabric store.

1st off Mwedzi ur one of my hair idols :drool:I just had to let u know!!

2nd.... I want a flexi 8! thats at the top of my list

Also i want a cute hair sticks for buns. I wouldnt mind a couple of Hair combs without tiny sharp teeth super close together. Thats just 4 starters I kind of want it all!

This summer I did the flower thing and loved it! But I need a way to decorate my hair and look weather appropriate ya kno???

But what is Etsy??? is that at store or do they have a website?

Also, I never looked into LHC I may have to see what they have going on there!!

Why thank you!

Etsy is like Ebay except everything is "buy it now" and most of it is handmade or vintage. It's the crafty version of Ebay.

Okay, let's see. If you want a flexi8, you have to buy it from http://www.flexi8.com. You can use the code 3346 to get 10% off.

If you want hair sticks, these hold really well and are professional (i.e. not too flashy, dymondwood is flashier than plain wood):

If you have the money for it, I highly recommend a Ficcare clip. there really isn't anything that holds like it and is of equal quality that I've seen. I've only tried the Maximas:
http://ficcare.com/

If you want more interesting hair sticks or something handmade and less common, I'd look on Etsy:
http://www.etsy.com/search_results....ch_query=hair+sticks&order=date_desc&ship_to=

If you want hair combs with teeth spaced far apart, I like these:

or
http://www.etsy.com/shop/hawaiianmonkeybizz

Or here:

If you want pretty hair forks, these are of very nice quality:

I second the ficarre maximas, nothing holds like them! The ficcarissimo is also excellent.

Quecraft has some bone items, which are ideal for damp bunning:

Baerreis has natural hand carved wood forks, excellent customer service, and a good reputation:

60th street also has an etsy store, which is a good place to see examples of what's already made:

If anyone is interested, I can take pictures of ficcares, baerreis, 60th street, and ketylo accessories in my stash

I'm loving etsy.com these days (I got some ideas from mwedzi -thanks girl). I wear my hair up 90% of the time and I need variety or I'd shave all my hair off. Prior to Etsy though, I found a lot at the drugstores in my area. Some of my favs -

Seems like I just find them on the humbug...in random stores when I'm not even looking for them. Here's one of my fave hairpins...

The Flower CVS pins are HOT FIYA! How long ago did you get those? I can't find them on the site. We don't have CVS here, but they're building one. We're big on Walgreens! You just gave me a reason to stalk the new CVS! :yep:

CVS stuff is so random tho. The leather one is about a year old. The one with the gold adornments I got about a month ago.

Oh yeah, don't sleep on Walgreens - they have these 3/$10:

Hair accessory thread, I had to comment.
I "treat" myself to expensie hair accessories. (some of the prces are not for the faint of heart peeps). Here are a few of the places that I have purchased from.

nothing like it:
http://chidoriyaworld.stores.yahoo.net/newhairac.html

headbands:
http://www.andreasbeau.com/Retail/women-headbands-view-all.htm

for your hair bling:
www.longhairgirl.com

all of the above have great service and are super fast. I have shopped at many places and have a large accessories collection, it's shameful.

I'm BROKE!!! :lachen:

So I get mine at the local BSS.....nothing more than $2

I'm still looking for protective styles so I'm going through the trial and error.
