Grrr. I need a foam so I can do a good twist out. Au Naturale Gel n Butter Twist Out doesn't work for me at all... Because my hair is so soft, I need something that will completely stiffin' it so it doesn't drop or frizz....

my regimen is not perfect. But 90% of time I do wash n go's. I shampoo once weekly w/sulfate free shampoo. Deep condition once weekly with Shea moisture conditioners. I cowash every 3 days with Aussie Moist or HH. My all time favorite products are JBCO leave in followed by Renpure Curling jelly. I seal with any oil. Detangle wet under shower w/Conair detangling comb and/or fingers. Trim every 3-6 months. I am bad about pineappling my hair and sleeping on my satin pillowcase:/

Hi! Nice Regimen. I'm starting to feel like I'm the only one here with this ridiculous hair length goal now lol. BSL, APL, or MBL or no goal seems to be the common goal here lol.

That's how I am too lol. I consider my hair short if it is anything shorter than WL... I believe I got that way of thinking because I know that no matter what crap I do to my hair it will ALWAYS grow WL.... That's why WL isn't really a goal nor a challenge for me.... My hair stayed WL for a long time when it was damaged badly from heat damage when I was in high school.... I used heat everyday, had crazy breakage and my ends were horrific.... I'd get my ends trimmed, but by the time I squinted, I'm back to WL and I felt like it just stopped there lol... Up until I stopped using heat and it grew a bit past HL, then had to chop that off over color damage.... But, that's another story, lol.

I hear you. I have fine, but dense, primarily 3c hair. I need hold as well. For twist outs I like ORS curl and hold pudding. It seems to have a nice mix of styling cream and gel mixed together. I also like TGIN Twist and Define cream.

Going back to wash n gos - Any product geared towards wash and go styling is an epic fail for me. Having fine hair,most products leave me with that jherri curl look that us fine hair girls tend to get with wash and gos. My staple in this area continues to be Suave Shea Butter and Almond conditioner on sopping wet hair to ensure clumping, maybe rake through a bit of gel for additional hold..and that's it.

I'm mostly 3c with a little 4a sprinkled in for fun.

current length: 2 inches to bra strap
Goal length: between hip and tailbone

My reggie is really simple. I wash every 5-7 days depending on what I'm doing to my hair. I deep condition with every wash. I mostly do moisture dc's because my hair is protein sensitive. I do protein treatments as needed. Then apply my leave in, seal, and use either gel or conditioner to do my wash and go depending on the look I'm going for or how my hair feels.

I've tried incorperating different things like moisturizing and sealing regularly, or co washing but my hair doesn't like all the fuss. It just likes to be left alone and that's fine by me.

I find that now that I know how to do my natural hair it's actually easier to deal with than my relaxed hair. It really doesn't tangle much and holds a style for at least 3 days before I have to put it in a bun or puff.
 
I'm 3b/c, maybe some 4aish. Currently my hair is between hip and TBL. It has fluctuated between WL and TBL since 2010. I would like full blunt TBL but it doesn't seem like that's going to happen without special effort, if ever.

I don't really have a regime. I wear wash and gos and buns out of convenience. I co-wash as needed (1-2 weeks) and shampoo every 1-2 months. I don't deep condition. I go through phases where I want to do better and I'll try something out (curly girl, Wen, all natural only products, MHM, hard protein, etc) but I usually fall back to where I am now, co-wash and wash and go or bun with leave in conditioner and shea butter mix or gel for a week, week and a half, then repeat. Oh yeah, I henna about quarterly for gray coverage. The next go around I'll probably do 2 step with indigo for the first time. I'm starting to get tired of fire in the front.

I will say I am not happy with the amount of hair I lose when I detangle (during co-wash only). I don't think its so much breakage as maybe shedding and tangles pulling the hair out. It's usually at least a handful every time. Sometimes I'm surprise I have any hair left. I don't know if its major shedding/loss from tangles or just that the strands are long so it makes it look like more than it is. Does anyone else deal with this? How much is too much?
 
@Natural-K, I struggle with the same thing of knowing whether or not I'm shedding too much. I do know it's not breakage as when I examine the strands they have the white bulb at the end. At this point it appears the amount I shed is normal for me. When I had my Komaza analysis she told me my hair was healthy and it's growing so I just assume it's normal.

LOL. I'm almost tailbone straight and mid back curly.

I use some kind of gel on the edges and some kind of cream on the length. Sometimes I add a little gel on the length for hold. I usually cowash every other day - wet in shower daily though. I let hair dry in 2 long twists. By the time I get to work it's mostly dry and I fluff it out as the day wears on.

Do you go a while before you brush or comb it??? I thought I was losing too much as well (I actually use to lose a lot until I incorporated protein treatments), usually I'd notice a lot when I keep a braided bun in for about 5 days or more without touching it, then when I finally comb it seemed like a lot, but i then started taking it down and brushing every two days and realized it wasnt that much. Also you could be losing a lot from tangles, finger detangle as much as possible, you should see a big difference. I definitely did.

Yep, it's at least a week before I fully detangle. So I'm thinking it's probably a combination of both natural shedding of long strands over that time period and excess tangles taking out additional strands. How often do you do protein treatments?

It caught my eye that @wavezncurlz cowashes every other day. Now you mention detangling every couple days too. I think that may be a good idea for me to try. Wavezncurlz what cream do you use on your length?

Okay, I'm about to do the 2 step Aphogee now and then I'll cowash and detangle every other day and see how that goes. It's been about a week since I last detangled so I'll use the shed hair from today as a baseline.

I have used a number of different creams. Lately I have fallen in love with Curls Blueberry Bliss

I also love Bee Mine's line and my favorite is the luscious balanced creme moisturizer
I think the brand is so high though and if I can't get it on the ground it's not worth the shipping cost.

Same with Qhemet's Burdock Root Creme
 
Hey Ladies, checking in its been an uneventful hair summer. That's probably a good thing though, so not complaining. I've been alternating between WnG's, twist-outs and buns. Today I did a WnG with SM curl enhancing smoothie and Wetline gel. Couldn't really get a good pic but it's an okay combo. Dried kind of crunchy but I am breaking that up with some grapeseed oil. I think I like the definition I get better with the SM JBCO leave-in or using the Cantu Shea Butter products. This wasn't a bad combo, just not my best.

Hey Ladies just checking in, how is everyone doing? We have been in a heat wave in the Philly areas for almost 10 days and the humidity is causing major frizz. Even my buns are getting puffy by the end of the day if I'm outside a lot. How do you all combat the frizz? Also anyone doing any new hair routines come September/fall?

I was thinking of getting crochet braids to see how my hair responds to just being left alone completely for 4-6 weeks. Still trying to talk myself in to it. I've never had braids or a weave before. Anyone here ever had crochet braids? What was your experience?
 
I don't try to fight the frizz. I just embrace it.

I'll have a new routine come fall. I'm still tweaking it but for now I plan on doing a full wash day on Thursdays, moisturizing as needed during the week. I'll keep my hair in flat twists under wigs and redo them every two weeks. I'll be wearing wigs from September-March/mid April and possibly do a sew-in the last week of April for my graduation.

I do my own crochet braids and I love them. But I start to miss my curls so the longest I can keep them in is about 2 weeks. They are so easy to take care of. I moisturize every other day. Some people cleanse their scalp with witch hazel or diluted shampoo, I skip that because I only keep mine in for 2 weeks. My favorite set was my most recent set done with pretwisted hair. I may try to squeeze in a set a few weeks before finals.
 
@KinksAndInk, thanks for the update. What type of hair do you use for your crochet braids? I want to use something close to my texture that will resemble a braid or twist out.

I used a water wave (didn't like it), Marley hair *my usual* (pre curled on perm rods), pretwisted Havana twists. What does you hair look like after a braid or twist out?
 
It's weird because it seems like every wash and go vid I watch they say they have to do it on wet hair. They all use their spray bottles to drench their hair before applying their products but I'm finding my hair actually comes out better when my hair is towel dried. I've tried it with the drenched just out of the shower hair and I just don't like the results. Plus it takes longer to dry.

I'm also finding that while I like and have perfected using gel to do my wash and goes I actually prefer the look of my conditioner wash and goes. For some strange reason my hair actually is more elongated than when using gel. I still can't figure that one out.

They don't last as long as gel wash and goes but they are fuzzier and more fluffy while still being defined which I like.

In the dog days of summer and been really hair lazy...had my whole plan for last weekend and then didn't have the energy to get started. I'm on week 2 of a twist out and this week I pulled it back into a sleek bun. Looking forward to cooler weather...I think it's the heat and humidity that's driving the laziness.
 
I'm wanting to straighten my hair b/c I'm tired of wash and gos. I din't feel like doing it myself, but I have the worst time finding stylists who know how to straighten my hair properly. I can watch a stylist blow dry and flat iron someone with coarser hair and it comes out sleek and smooth with big barrel curls made via the flat iron. They try and use the same technique on my hair and it will be frizzy and curl-less by the time I have reached my car.
