I was wondering how much I trim and looked at my calender. I trimmed once every month and a Deep trim in december. I dont really see it though because since I have been taking care of my hair I retaining ALOT more length. I think once I'm finished transitioning I will trim once every three month and dust a little in between.

I generally trim and dust every 6-8 weeks- at least until all the hair is even and the shorter lengths catch up with the long ones.
I'm really not that commited to a schedule, but it's around the time I color my hair and I'm really focusing in on the hair.
Kind of like exam time for my hair.
If I see some strands that look like they are starting to split or knot- snip!
As I section off parts for coloring (or just flat ironing- that might trigger the snipping event as well, lol!) and I see how some hairs are scraggly up against some nice ends, I snip the smooth and scragglies to even it out.
Once it's all even, that will all stop though.

Mermaid, your trim "schedule" is just like mine. My hair is uneven and I am trying to focus evening it out. I notice that the 1st shampoo/condition day after my relaxer touchup is when I seem really focused on my hair and see the need to get the scissors out. As it has gotten closer to a uniform length, I notice that I trim/dust my hair less during each trim session, so like you I hope that I can totally decrease my trimmings as I get even.

I last trimmed about a week and a half ago. My hair was 1/2 inch from my first goal, but my ends were uneven. I have always put health before length, so I whacked off about 1.5 inches and I was very pleased. I might do a clean-up today after my self-relax, because I just want my ends to be perfect when I reach my goal of APL. I am not far off. I'd rather get there slow and steady and like the way my hair looks. I really envy the ladies who can wait. I just can't! :(

ETA: when I say health, that includes appearance of the ends. I know ends can be uneven AND healthy. I just can't stand the uneven look on myself! :/

Yeah, what I see happeneing is a decrease in a couple of months, then more trimming later as my alopecia new growth starts getting down there. It's been a year since that patch showed up and now I have 4 and 3/4 inches of new growth!:D

The last time i trimmed was in November. I try to only trim my hair once a year because Trimming my hair is hard for me. I would tell my self ok I'm going to just trim my hair. Then that will lead to me cutting my hair off for no reason. Now after i trim i have to put in hair in braids to keep me from cutting my hair off.

i will probably only trim once and that's because when i do get to my goal length I do plan on wearing my hair straight once in a blue moon and seeing as i did my own BC i am pretty sure my hair is uneven

Its been 3 months since I trimmed and I think I need to get another one because some of my ends feel brittle.

I am so proud of myself, i havent trimmed since oct.27,2006!! AND my ends look great! This is a huge accomplishment for me cuz i used to trim soo frequently like evey other month, thinking i needed it.. well all that protective hair styles do seem to be working!:yep:

This past sunday april 15th. My ends still need some improvement but I don't plan to do a major trim/cut until July to completely even up my length.

I trim monthly because I still have relaxed ends. Sometimes I trim more often if I use any kind of heat, which I am trying to refrain from doing.

My last trim was March 25, 2007 :ohwell:

I think putting myslef on a schedule has really worked wonders

beacuse in the past I would trim on bad hairdays or when I was mad about something and etc.

I probably lost a lot of length to just those 2 factors alone!

My last real trim from a stylist was Sept 05' but after that I was cutting all of the highlights out of my hair. My last BIG trim myself was in Dec when I finally cut it all out.

My last trim was 7/21/05. I am not trimming until I'm near tail bone length if I can help it. Until then I will continue to go on random search & destroy missions for splits and knots. :armyhat:

I hardly ever clipped my ends, but I went to a salon last year and let the so called stylist clip my ends and ended with a hair cut. Which I should have known because she said "OOOhh your ends are bad, you need a HAIRCUT" I told her no thank you and she actually told me that I would not be able to be her client if I do not let her cut my hair. So I let her clip and she cut off all of my length so I have not let a stylist with scissors in my head since.
