when to get a perm after braids

how long after braids can I get a perm, also I am planning to do a personal hide your hair challenge since I missed one. I have highlights in my hair, can anyone tell me where to find a bun with highlights n them? I looked at the beauty supply and all I see are drawstrings (which pulls my hair) that have highlights in them. If anyone knows a place online that would be helpful. thanks

I used to try the Crown and Glory Technique where I would wait for 2 months after taking braids out and just press my hair. I think that did more damage than anything and it was way too much manipulation. In the last year, I would wear my braids for 4 months at a time and then a week after I took them out I got a touch up (I took the advice of a friend that wore braids for six months at a time and then got a touch up the next week). My hair grew out just fine with no breakage, but my stylist told me to get a touch up again in 8 weeks (I'm stretching to 12) because he said I would be back to square one if I wore braids again and my hair would break. So I'm following his advice and getting a touch up next week. I'll be back in braids in the fall.

Funny you should ask, of course this was years ago but I had no problem. I took down my braids, base my scalp with oil and one week later I got my relaxer done my my stylist. She base my scalp again and started teh process, it took awhile it had been 3 years since I had a relaxer. I had no shedding, hair falling out or anything.

thanks ya'll my newgrowth is crazy. I'm eight months pregnant and my hair is growing like weeds I can't keep my braids in anymore.
