When stretching and you feel tempted to relax, what do you choose to do instead?

I am asking because recently, I had a growth spurt and I cannot COMB my hair at all. Even finger combing has gotten difficult. This did not happen last time. I got to 9 weeks with no problem at all.

I only wear my hair down so it is getting frustrating. But, it is too early for me to relax.

What do you guys do? I was thinking about just deep conditioning twice a week for the next 3 weeks to help me get by.

I never deep condition that much. Maybe every other week or so.

What products do you use to help you with your new growth if you choose to wear your hair down - or do you only wear it up? Which deep conditioners do you find that really soften NG.

I have not done henna in a while. Maybe that's why it is harder for me this go round.

I'm 3 months post and I've had a couple of days where I've been very tempted.

To overcome the urge, I'll give myself a hot oil pre-treatment with EVOO & Avocado Oil, then CW in the shower and detangle with conditioner. Then I'll use Keracare Humecto for a few hours and rinse in the shower. While I'm the shower I pull my hair into a loose bun and let it dry.

At night, I apply oil to my scalp with a spray bottle and wrap in a silk scarf.

In the morning, I dampen my edges with Pantene Detangling Spray and apply any kind of cheap conditioner - right now, I'm using Herbal Essence. Then I bun my hair and wrap it with the silk scarf while I finish getting dressed, etc. for work. When I take the scarf off my edges are flat and I'm on my way.

How long are you stretching? My goal is 16 weeks, but if I can make it that long, then I might aim for 24.

I started putting Lacio Lacio on my new growth and hair as a moisturizer before bed and this helped alot ..Probably because of the silk protiens

Pantene Extra Liso Combing Creme. It instantly relaxes the new growth and the comb glides thru my hair like buttuh!!! HTH

Honestly, I am trying to go as far as I can. Last time I got to 9 weeks which is the longest I had ever gone. Even then I think I could have gone longer but I wanted do it before going out of town.

I am sitting under the dryer now doing a nice moisturizing deep condition. I did a hardcore protein last week and I only did a rinse out condition afterwards. Because of that I think maybe my NG is just not as moisturized as it normally is.

I hope this helps. Right now, I am only at 6 weeks. I just couldn't bear a touch up right now!

I use NTM Silk everyday no matter what to keep my hair soft and moist. This product is the most important to prevent breakage. Around 6 weeks the new growth starts to get thick. I continue washing at least every 2-3 days to keep the new growth soft. I also start exclusively french rolls or a bun. I use the scarf method to keep the ends smooth. Around 10 weeks I start using Keraphix weekly to prevent breakage.

...back again..just did my COW:bath2:. That combing creme is the BOMB. I highly recommend it to anyone struggling w/ NG. Girl...get you some:poke:

Garnier Sleek & Shine Fortifying Cream conditioner saves my hair especially when stretching, it gets the tangles out while combing in the shower. Tonight I'm rollersetting because my NG is getting out of control and I want my hair to dry as straight as possible. Also I don't towel dry either which helps with straightness. I'll Maxiglide my roots afterwards for additional smoothness.

I usually co-wash every other day or every three days. Deep condition once a week, and then just bun. I put Giovanni Direct on my new growth when it feels dry and seal with coconut oil. I'm 8 weeks post right now. Good Luck!! :)

I alternate between rollersetting and airdrying w/ my hair wraped in two low buns w/o ties. When I take the buns out my hair is wavy looking. I am currently 4mos and 3wks post.... So I try different things to hide my NG. I see all these people w/ beautiful flowing straight hair and I want so bad to relax but know that in the end this stretch will do wonders for hair. I do a lot of deep conditioning w/ NTM and keracare humecto. They both keep my NG soft and manageable.
