For some reason, my crown area is horrid! Always been that way, no matter how much conditioning, moisturizing, etc was done to it. When I had a relaxer, that was the first section I made sure was slammed with perm. It has always been dry and frizzy. I give up!

Of late it has been the left side of my head. It seems to be shedding more than the right side. I just cut the right side to be even with the left. It looks a lot better. I have been thinking about doing the big chop and get it over with. I started taking iron pills, I will see if that helps with the shedding. I may get it braided for the summer and see how it does after that. :look:

Mine is the crown as well. But it's mostly the right side. I could slap perm on for days and I still have this wavy texture. I am starting right there for sure on the next go-round. And I will base it carefully, if at all.

LOL! All of mine is difficult right now while I am dealing with two textures and learning how to deal with my natural hair :perplexed ...it will get better though...I know :D

ITA with the crown....thats the part where the spirals hold hands and dont let go. Its a Mess to detangle, corn row, or roller set!

It has always been my crown and too add to that, now my sides! I got color and it has chewed my hair up!! :( I don't know what to do, but I am seriously thinking about taking off about 2 inches, just so it looks better.

You took the words right out of my mouth. I thought I was alone. To add to what you said..........that is the first place that if I were to have breakage........it would be there.

My crown area is pretty tough as well. My nape and the rest of my roots is soft... so i dont understand why hairstylists always start at the nape? anyways, now I always blowdry the crown first, after washing. This has helped alot, to keep my crown soft. Cause i used to blow the front, then by the time I got to the crown, the roots was already a hard crunchy mess. and once they dry like that...my hair will be dry and breaking for the rest of the week...

Hey ladies, why do you all think our crowns are so difficult to maintain?

The crown and my kitchen area are a 4F nappy dry disaster....but somehow the back and sides grow in kind of wavy and soft....WTH?

I have a cowlick in the front of my head just slightly to the left. It's dry and frizzy, no matter what I do to it, it repels an moisture.

I think it's because we focus so much on the front, and the very back for a style, that the crown sometimes get's overlooked.

I would love to hear the answer as well. I moisturize this section so much to no avail.

For me, it's actually the back. Right below the crown the danger zone starts. It takes a lot of time to detangle that section, and it's the main reason why I went back to using cones. It shouldn't take 10 minutes to detangle one little section of hair :(

My front left and right sides generally, and my left side specifically. Both these sections suffer from the most shrinkage of anywhere on my head, so it always makes my shake-n-gos look uneven. The longer my hair gets, the more noticable the shrinkage. The left side is frizzer than the right, adding insult to injury.

The crown! No matter how many different moisturizing or softening products I use this is ALWAYS the worse section to deal with.

I would have to agree with Bub and say my crown is the most difficult to work with. I am in the process of growing out my edges after years of self inflicted damage and stress, tad bit annoying that the length is not up to par with the rest of the hair on my head.

My temples and my crown. I read somewhere that the crown area could be suffering from poor diet. So what I'm doing is incorperating more fruits and vegetables in my diet. I also pay more attention to those areas when I moisterize my hair in the moring and at night.

My front left side is the worst! It's more tightly coiled and seems to grow slower than the rest of my hair. It's always been that way . . . so bizarre.

Same here, and it's the thickest, most course, and tangles the most.

I am with the majority. My crown is wicked. I always relax that section first because it is such a hassle, but by the time processing is over, it is texlaxed 65% at best while the rest of my hair is almost bone straight. I think I need Kryptonite to tame this mess.
