Whats your hair ephifiny?

My hair epiphanies seem like good old common sense but lol you'd be surprised.

1. Go with what works for YOUR hair. I was so busy trying to try different products and follow other's regimens and being lazy that I forgot what I did to get to APL and beyond before. When I find something I'm sticking with it.... now this doesn't mean that I can't try new products but how much money have I wasted and hair have I lost by trying what works for someone else?

2. Stress is a killer! I lose small amounts of hair mainly near my temples when I'm stressed. (I'm brown and smooth as mama's gravy now) But I've learned when my life is chaotic or my hair's being difficult that relaxing and not letting it get to me is the best thing in the entire world. AND don't trust anyone except my stylist with scissors and my hair.

3. Vitamins are a God send. I realize that some folks skoff at vitamin supplements and say that they're not needed but not all bodies are not the same. I'm anemic and no matter what I do, I'm still anemic. (I will be getting a full check up very soon.) I take nioxin but I also take multivits along with fish oil (helps my arthritis) and etc. Different bodies need different things... it's not all about hair growth ( <--- did I just blaspheme? )

4. CASTOR OIL IS DA TRUTH!!!! I switched to olive oil and wondered why my grass was dry. I baggied with it.... I used it to seal.... I used it on my skin (mixing it with baking soda to form a paste as a facial and/or body scrub is DELICIOUS!!!!) but my hair was still dry. I ordered 8lbs of castor oil (it came in a container like the ones antifreeze comes in) for 15 bucks from oilsbynature.com last weekend. It came yesterday so I slathered a lil bit on my fine strands and let me tell ya.... I am 1000% sure that it IS my baby's daddy. :yep:

I went a on 10 day business trip and didn't wash my hair. When i finally did, it didn't feel as dry as usual. Thats when i realized i was washing my hair way too much and my hair doesn't like frequent washing, it will dry out. Now i only wash every week or more

Realized my hair doesnt like all these really light watery moisturizers (or leave in used as moisturizers). they would go on wet, make my hair tangly and mushy, then dry out (even when i sealed with oil) I need something heavier bc my hair is so coarse, now i only use QB amla and olive heavy cream.

Realized my hair will dry out with a quickness from protein. I focus mostly on moisture and do protein (even light protein) on an as needed basis.

mines are

1st this hair board because w/o it i would have never found out about the following :
-hawaiian silky miracle worker moisturizer and/or s-curl these are the only things that seem to moisturize my hair they make my hair so easy to deal with
-stop using shampoo my scalp hates it i mix 4 tbls of baking soda with a gal of water as a result my scalp itches no more
-dcing everyweek

I am not sure what mine is just yet. :look:

All I know is that lately, my hair has been doing everything right. Something I am doing has increased my hair's elasticity to the point where I can just streeetchhhh a dry strand so much and it never breaks. I hardly ever need daily moisturizers. It holds curls nicely. It's soft and easy to style....

Whatever it is, I am afraid to try anything new. It it tough pinpointing what is is that is working or of it is just a combo of things.

For now, I am just sticking to what works and keeping it simple. Hey maybe that's my epiphany!

i use to wrap my hair eveynight, comb it around then comb eveyday.
i went on cruise and got to lazy to do my hair. i had curled it with a waver b4 i left. so everynight i didnt feel like combing it and just put the scarf on, woke up and would go. i did that when i came home too for like another 2weeks. i couldn't belive it when i washed and blowdried my hair had grown 2inches within the month. ever since then no more combs..lol. no manipulation. my hair wich has never been longer then apl length is now the longest i ever had.
