My hair epiphanies seem like good old common sense but lol you'd be surprised.
1. Go with what works for YOUR hair. I was so busy trying to try different products and follow other's regimens and being lazy that I forgot what I did to get to APL and beyond before. When I find something I'm sticking with it.... now this doesn't mean that I can't try new products but how much money have I wasted and hair have I lost by trying what works for someone else?
2. Stress is a killer! I lose small amounts of hair mainly near my temples when I'm stressed. (I'm brown and smooth as mama's gravy now) But I've learned when my life is chaotic or my hair's being difficult that relaxing and not letting it get to me is the best thing in the entire world. AND don't trust anyone except my stylist with scissors and my hair.
3. Vitamins are a God send. I realize that some folks skoff at vitamin supplements and say that they're not needed but not all bodies are not the same. I'm anemic and no matter what I do, I'm still anemic. (I will be getting a full check up very soon.) I take nioxin but I also take multivits along with fish oil (helps my arthritis) and etc. Different bodies need different things... it's not all about hair growth ( <--- did I just blaspheme? )
4. CASTOR OIL IS DA TRUTH!!!! I switched to olive oil and wondered why my grass was dry. I baggied with it.... I used it to seal.... I used it on my skin (mixing it with baking soda to form a paste as a facial and/or body scrub is DELICIOUS!!!!) but my hair was still dry. I ordered 8lbs of castor oil (it came in a container like the ones antifreeze comes in) for 15 bucks from oilsbynature.com last weekend. It came yesterday so I slathered a lil bit on my fine strands and let me tell ya.... I am 1000% sure that it IS my baby's daddy.
