What's your combo of products for baggying?

I know we have the official baggy challenge thread but I thought it'd be cool if we had one where everyone listed what they use for moisturizers and sealants, and whether your combo is a keeper or a dud. Let's Go!

Last night I used ORS Olive oil moisturizing lotion for moisture, just rubbed through my hands and ran them through my hair than did it again and concentrated on the ends. Then I used Fantasia's IC Night oil Treatment in spray form, and sprayed my ends, wrapped my hair then sprayed a little more on the top and around my wrap. Put the baggie on, and tied a silk scarf around it, then put a silky bonnet over that. My hair was not wet at all and this is why I purposely chose to use a cream moisturizer instead of a water based one. When I woke up my hair was wet from sweat all around the perimeter of my head anyway! So I think I may tweak my formula and style I set my hair in under the baggie.

I have learned that my fine hair does not like a lot of products on it, so at night I will alternate between Mizani Nighttime Treatment and African Best Olive Oil moisturezer and put the baggie on with my scarve and bonnet. After that I cross wrap.

In the morning I will finger comb my hair and rub some coconut oil on my hair. For my ends I will put coconut oil in my baggie and put my daytime baggie on and style my hair.

Depends on my mood. I usually use Mizani Rose H2O after put on my ORS Olive Oil. Lately I've been using the Jamaican Black Castor Oil Pomade and my hair seems to like that better. Instead of wrapping, I plait my ends and put a scrunchie on then baggy.

Oh yeah, all this is after I BT.

I use whatever leave in conditioner or oil I'm trying to use up. I don't use something every night because I don't want to get too much product build up.

Elasta QP Moisturizing Spray
Boundless Tresses
Olive Oil
if i wore my hair out that day....a lil of my cream potion(mix of a bunch of cheapie water based conditioners with a lil keracare and porosity control thrown in)

When my JBCO gets here , I will use it in place of olive oil

Bump............

Good lookin out! ;)

For people who have used both water based moisturizers and cream based moisturizers, which do you feel is more beneficial/give you better results?

I used to use my mango butter and jojoba oil but I found that purchasing Elasta every 2 weeks was becoming expensive. So now I mix that with a new cream moisturizer I found that has shea butter and no minerial oils or petroluem and use an olive oil/almond oil/tea tree oil/peppermint oil mix. I wear my hair 2 strand twisted and then have the ends tucked under so the waviness does not bother me at all.....

I use the cantu shea butter cream on the length of my pony tail, bun it up then baggy. I put this on my entire head as well and use my scarf to tie it down. It gives me a great sleek look in the morning and all I have to do is take the baggy off and go to work. My hair is always wet when I do this since the jar says it's good for frizz control - and it is. I love this stuff!

No problemo!;)

I prefer the cream based moisturizers because my hair is fine. The water based moisturizers tend to weaken my strands.

ORS Olive Oil Moisturizing Lotion on my hair &
BT on my scalp. Then I put on my plastic cap & my satin cap over it. My hair has never been this thick :D

I've been washing everynight... after I pre-poo, shampoo & condition...

I Leave-In Humectress (or) Mane 'n Tail conditioner... (dime size amount)
Comb with wide-tooth comb then I apply ORS Hair Lotion (or) Olive Oil
(in the jar) (or) Silk Elements Megasilk leave-in... then I apply Lisa's Hair
Elixir by Carol's Daughter
(or) Wild Growth Hair Oil... pin up with large
bobby pins apply plastic cap, and then cover with satin scarf and sleep on satin pillowcase.

... once a week I pre-poo, shampoo & condition... and then apply MTG & Lisa's
Hair Elixir by Carol's Daughter
and then apply the plastic cap... satin scarf.

I only just started doing this last week... then I just wear my hair up the next day...EVERYDAY... getting bored with that, but that's another topic ;)[/

I want to try that fantasia as well b/c when I relaxed it worked very well on my hair- only thing, I remember after using it for a while my hair looked dull and weighed down (if I remember correctly it has mineral oil, right?). But then again, I really didn’t even consider clarifying treatments back then b/c I thought they were not good for black (textured) hair, and I went 2 or more weeks between shampooing. I’m glad that you mentioned it though b/c I have been contemplating buying it for a long time and especially last night since I started the baggy challenge.

I’ve been using B&B castor oil moisturizer which is water based b/c I like the wetness. I wonder if it is bad for the hair for it to be wet so long or if people avoid it b/c of styling or not liking the feeling or something like that.

I baggied for the first time last night. it was a lot easier to do and sleep with than i thought. i used my regular moisturizer (Elasta qp oil moisturizer) and sealed with my Dudley's vitamin A,D & E oil. then i cover my plastic cap with my silk scarf and went to sleep. I'm gonna do this every night for a month to see if it makes a difference in my growth rate.

I just use Qhemet Biologics Heavy Cream and I don't have to apply it everyday, I just spritz a little water to re-activate the products and put my plastic cap on, I don't seal with oil because my hair does not do well with direct oils. So far so good! So My Combo would be:

Distlled Water Spritz & QB Heavy Cream

This is my first time ever baggying----I used ORS Olive Oil in the bottle to put on my hair and used a small amount of Proclaim Naturn 7 Oil to put on the ends (I actually had my hair in 2 parts onthe sides of my head).

I tried what someone said previously on this board -after putting the products on my hair I tied my silk scarf around the hair and then put the baggies on the seal in moisture and so that my hair would not sweat too much -- it was a success!!

Lately:
Coconut milk and oil concoction (macadamia, castor, olive, meadowfoam, and avocado butter).

Honorable mentions:
Stay Soft Fro and oil concoction
Cantu shea butter Leave-in cream

I only baggy my ponytail.

For oil base_ I've used Cantu Shea Butter Moisturizer with castor oil & Organics Carrot-Tea Tree Oil added. NO WETNESS! Just a light dampness, thats gone after 10 minutes of removing baggy. I LOOOVE this combo!

Occasional water base: Cantu Shea Butter Leave-In + castor oil

first off I love baggying I personally believe this has made my hair super thick, I experiment with different things every night, last night I sprayed my mixture of scurl for moisture and infusium for protein then I put carot oil and then seal with castor I then put my cap on tied with my bandana and put on my satin cap I work up this moring and my hair falls like no other it was quite amazing, I then put my hair in my phony pony and I'm out the door, I love trying different things so my hair wouldn't get use to the same thing and get immuned to it, tonight I'm gonna moisturize with mango butter and add my ultra emu oil and see what tomorrow's outcome will be I love baggying:D

My keeper combo for whole-head baggying:
  • Moisturizer - Africa's Best Carrot Oil Cream or small amount of cheapie conditioner
  • Sealant - Africa's Best Ultimate Herbal Oil
  • Set hair as desired (bun, bantu knots, crosswrap, etc.)
  • Tie on satin scarf (Cristina Satin Nites "You Tie It" Satin Wrap)
  • Put on plastic cap (with slits cut into plastic to eliminate excessive heat buildup)
  • Place drawstring satin bonnet over all and go to bed!
I prefer cream-based moisturizers to sprays or liquids.

Ah! So you CAN put your satin scarf on then your plastic cap and it's still a baggy? I would like more input on this from other ladies as well because your method would be perfect for me, sounds you avoid the excess wet hair in the morning. I know I must change something from how I did it last night, I don't like the sweat and bent up wrap.

There was discussion about this in one of the other baggy-related threads. I do this to prevent the elastic in the plastic cap from damaging my hairline, and to keep my head from getting too damp. It works great for me. Don't use a scarf that's too thick, though. The one I use is pretty thin, yet it's sturdy enough to keep my edges flattened properly.

You are baggying your whole head right? I would suggest your tying your silk scarf first, then putting your baggy/shower cap on. This is what I did last night for my ponytails and it worked great my hair was moisturized and not wet at all! I am going to try it the other way around one night just to see. I also use a creme based moisturizer.
