What's the difference between Emergencee and Aphogee??

Aphogee uses animal protein and Emergencee uses I think keratin or collagen one of the two. I think Aphogee is more potent.

I just want to know if one does something different than the other or are both the same? TIA

Aphogee contains animal proteins and Emergencee contains some form of polymers that is used to seal the broken hair shaft. They supposedly work the same. Both smell different and priced different.

Nexxus Emergencee is not a PROTEIN treatment. It's a polymeric treatment, that bonds hair together by wraping little fibers around it preserving and promoting elasticity.

Aphogee treatment for damaged hair is a protein that justs ""fill up" spaces in the hair.

Emergencee works better for my hair.

Can I still use the Emergencee 1x a week although my hair is healthy now or will it damage it?

Wouldn't be overkill? Besides when in doubt, follow the label. Good luck.

I thought Emergencee was good for hair the was breaking/shedding

Maybe a light protein treatment would be better on a weekly basis like Nexxus Keraphix or Aubrey's GPB.

So Nexxus Keraphix can be used on a weekly basis?

I love Emergencee. Aphoghee is a lot of hassle and not much reward IMO.

And Emergencee IS a protein conditioner - the primary ingredient is Collagen Amino Acids - so anyone who's been using it that way, not to worry you may continue to use it that way.

Here's some info on Collagen....and Aminos. It's true that Emergencee is a polymeric conditioner, but it is ALSO a protein conditioner.

------------------------

Many structures of the body are formed from protein. Hair and nails are made of keratins which are long protein chains containing a high percentage (15%-17%) of the amino acid cysteine. Keratins are also components of animal claws, horns, feathers, scales, and hooves. Collagen is the most common protein in the body and comprises approximately 20-30% of all body proteins. It is found in tendons, ligaments, and many tissues that serve structural or mechanical functions. Collagen consists of amino acid sequences that coil into a triple helical structure to form very strong fibers. Glycine and proline account for about 50% of the amino acids in collagen. Gelatin is produced by boiling collagen for a long time until it becomes water soluble and gummy. Tooth enamel and bones consist of a protein matrix (mostly collagen) with dispersed crystals of minerals such as apatite, which is a phosphate of calcium. Muscle tissue consists of approximately 65% actin and myosin, which are the contractile proteins that enable muscle movement. Casein is a nutritive phosphorus-containing protein present in milk. It makes up approximately 80% of the protein in milk and contains all the common amino acids.

Okaaaay did y'all see how Tracy swoooooooooooped down with an answer when Emergencee's protein content was being questioned?!?!

LOL! Sorry Mona...didn't mean to scare y'all....or sound so sinceerreee... I just don't want all the long time users to be confused about this "polymeric" stuff. It is a polymeric and that is different than protein -but a conditioner can be polymeric AND be a protein conditioner, is my understanding....

I thought polymerics coat/protect the hair, protein filled the gaps along the cuticle

You probably have a better sense of polymerics than I do Dana. Protein does fill the cuticle.

Based on the ingredients I think the deal with Emergencee is that's both a protein and a polymeric. Which if I understand things correctly makes sense and is a good thing. If the gaps get filled and the whole thing gets protected, then that, I Imagine, is better than just one or the other.

I have had great results with Emergencee. Aphogee broke out my hair because it is so strong and gets so stiff. I was washing for what seemed like hours, but it was still in my hair. After all of the drama, my hair was still breaking and shedding. Emergencee goes on like a gel and it really does the trick. My hair is much healthier. I first used it on the recommendation of my hair guru, Tracy. :)

INGREDIENTS
Polyacrylamidomethylpropane Sulfonic Acid, Water (Aqua), Collagen Amino Acids, Hydrolyzed Elastin, Propylene Glycol, Hydrolyzed Collagen, Methylchloroisothiazolinone, Methylisothiazolinone, DMDM Hydantoin, Iodopropynyl Butylcarbamate, Methylparaben.

POLYACRYLAMIDOMETHYLPROPANE SULFONIC ACID
A thickening, emulsifying, and penetrating agent. (I thought this was the polymeric ingredient, but it's not).

I knew it had some type of protein in it, just couldn't remember which one!

So Tracy, is it ok to use it on a weekly basis even though my hair isn't damaged??

Ehhhhhhh.....

That's hard.

I use it weekly, but it could be overkill depending on just how "not damaged" your hair is. My hair is ALWAYS slightly more damaged than it should be.

Okay my final answer is: no. Limit to once every 2 weeks and see how it goes for you. No harm...try doing it more frequently. Hair starting to feel a little cripsy? Lay off.

I kow that's not exactly scientific, :ohwell: but that's how I do it. :look:

Cool!! Emergencee fiils gaps and coats the cuticle, one my way to get another bottle

Aphogee made my hair break more. I think this product is just too strong for some hair types. Emergencee is a lot gentler. A plus is that I got no breakage from it and it strengthened my hair. It is stronger than Keraphix but weaker than Aphogee.

LOL...Caramel Honee had me leaning from the Aphoghee....and after finishing up what I had...and reading your empassioned dialogue on the benefits of Emergencee...I think I will be switching soon. Thanks Emergencee guru...;)

I've only used emergencee, when I went to buy aphogee I was repulsed by the smell :barf:

I really like emergencee, it certainly helped curb my breakage, and my hair felt really nice afterwards.

Thanks Tracy. I'll start using it every other week instead of every week. I just LOVE the way my hair feels and looks after I use this so I just want to maintain it. Thanks again!
