What's the Difference Between Different Bibles?

I've only studied the King James Version. I know there are others, and certain demominations have their own that are different...like the Mormons and the Catholics.

How and why are they different? Does it make a difference?

I'm not trying to start anything, I just want to know. Just looking for explanations, not defenses of anything.

Its just different translations. Goto crosswalk.com and go through the bible translations and see the ones that you like and take note of the differences. I like the NIV, NCV and the amplified. You may also like the message bible.

There are major differences with the different Bibles. Things are misquoted in NIV especially. And it definately matters. The KJV tends to be the most accurate based on the original Hebrew/Greek text literally translated. The KJV has a few mistakes also.

It is wise to have a Strongs' Exhaustive Concordance with you when you study the Bible, so you get what it says in the original greek/hebrew.

Are people not going to be saved because of reading the "wrong" Bible? Of Course Not. God only judges us based on what we know. But that doesn't give us license to sit around and act dumb. The Bible says "study to shew thyself approved"

Study the Word from KJV and NIV, and other versions, especially along with the concordance. The Best study tool is the Holy Spirit, the author of the Book.

He will always guide into all truth
