What\'s the Bun Challenge?

A good buddy of mine frequents the board. SHe is too shy to start a post so she got me Ms. Big mouth to ask the question for her. What is the bun challenge? What results are you hoping to get with the challenge? Thanks!

Re: What\'s the Bun Challenge?

Keeping your hair in a bun daily or as much as possible to protect your ends from breaking which will retain hair length.

Re: What\'s the Bun Challenge?

Thanks Pooh. However I thought some of you back in the day said keeping your hair in a bun and pulled back does wear out certain spots in your hair. Has anyone had any success with retaining length while wearing a bun?

Re: What\'s the Bun Challenge?

I cover my bun with the baggie method. I've had pretty good sucess with it and it keeps my ends looking good. So long as you don't pull you hair too tight, change the position of the bun regularly, and make sure to rinse or wash out potentially drying ingredients like gel frequently, I think you'd be fine with the bun challenge.

your welcome. i was on the bun challenge back in June but I got tired of wearing my hair in a bun. i was so used to wearing my hair down. so now i just do rollersets. I think the bun challenge did help me retain length. I know anky, sweatpea, and honeylemondrop have had success with the bun challenge, check out their albums, and u might wanna ask some tips from them like I did! /images/graemlins/grin.gif

Re: What\'s the Bun Challenge?

Thanks ladies for answering the questions. I guess if you change the posistion of the bun, your hair would be alright. I use to wear roller sets a lot and that help me to retain length.

Re: What\'s the Bun Challenge?

I've been in the bun challenge for about a month now--and I've had no issues with breakage. I think its a great way to avoid hair manipulation which helps retain length....

Me /images/graemlins/smile.gif My hair has grown tremendously in the one year that i've been a member here and i've worn a bun daily for about 300 days out of 365. I still wear a bun more often then not. As long as the bun isn't tight and you variate the places you place them (ie. part on the side low bun; part in the middle hi bun; part on the side side low bun, etc.) everything should b fine.
Oh and buying fun clips and accessories always dress up a bun. Of course, im not speaking from experience LOL but i've seen some really pretty buns with the most adorable clips and such.

I take my hair down at night, and finger comb it back into a bun in the AM

The bun has given me no probs whatsoever. I think most people pull their buns too tight, putting too much pressure on the hair strands. Yes, the length has been retained. /images/graemlins/cool.gif

Re: What\'s the Bun Challenge?

I can say that when I've worn a bun consistently I've achieved lots of growth! My problem is finding one that I could sleep in and not have to take down for a few days. I finally found a way to do it so I'll get back on track ASAP. I'm now trying to figure out how I can incorporate that baggie method over my bun. Then I'd be set!
